26 Avenue Général de Gaulle, 34300 Agde

Mon–Sun 06:00–20:00

Le Fournil d'Agde is an artisan bakery at 26 Avenue Général de Gaulle, a few minutes on foot from the old town and the river. Simon Queneau has run it with his team since 2018. The bread is made the slow way: flours from a local miller, older grain varieties among them, a natural sourdough starter, hand kneading. The range covers a crisp baguette de tradition, cereal, rye, corn and whole-wheat loaves, and a soft pain de mie for sandwiches. The pastry counter changes with the seasons and mixes classics (éclairs, millefeuilles, lemon and fruit tarts, chocolate desserts) with the bakery's own creations. Number cakes for birthdays, wedding cakes and petits fours for christenings are made to order; everything, the house states, is made on the premises. For a vacation rental this is above all a supply stop. The shop opens every day, Sunday included, from 6 am to 8 pm, so bread and croissants can be fetched before an early start to the beach, and a picnic put together from the savory counter: bakery pizzas, quiches, sandwiches with crudités, paninis and seasonal salads, plus a dish of the day at lunchtime. There is seating inside and a few tables on the square in front, where a breakfast formula with coffee is served. The bakery also caters private and business events, from starter to dessert, quoted on request. Orders for cakes and catering go through the form on the website or by email to lefournildagde@gmail.com; the phone is +33 4 67 26 76 08, and the day's offer is posted on the bakery's Facebook page. Cap d'Agde and Le Grau-d'Agde are each ten to fifteen minutes away by car, so the bakery suits a rental in Agde itself or a stop on the way out.

47 Rue Brescou, 34300 Agde

Tue–Sat 12:00–14:00, 19:30–22:00

Le Bistro d'Hervé is a small restaurant at 47 Rue Brescou, in the center of Agde's old town a few streets from the Hérault quays. Hervé Dos Santos cooks and Sabine Dos Santos runs the room. The kitchen calls its style creative and refined, built on seasonal produce with the flavors of the South, and is equally fond of "plats canailles", hearty bistro dishes done with care. Recent cards have carried a red tuna tataki with ratatouille, scallops on a Jerusalem artichoke velouté and meagre from the plancha with saffron risotto, next to standards such as eggs en meurette, beef tartare and rum baba. The wines stay in the Languedoc. The house holds the Maître Restaurateur title, which certifies cooking from raw ingredients on the premises, and is listed in the Michelin and Gault&Millau guides. The room is contemporary and air-conditioned, with a small terrace under shade sails and a covered one for hot July evenings. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 2 pm and 7:30 to 10 pm; Sunday and Monday are closed, and the restaurant works year-round apart from a break around Christmas and New Year. Tables go quickly in summer, so call +33 4 67 62 30 69 or write to bistroherve@gmail.com a day or two ahead. Groups of up to 40 can be seated with notice. For a family in a vacation rental nearby: there is a children's menu, dogs are accepted, and the premises carry the Tourisme & Handicap label, with step-free tables and adapted restrooms. A public parking lot lies about 100 meters away by the cinema; the train station is a 13-minute walk. From Cap d'Agde or Le Grau-d'Agde count a quarter of an hour by car for an evening away from the beachfront grills.

19 Quai du Commandant Méric, 34300 Le Grau-d'Agde

Le Ponton stands at 19 Quai du Commandant Méric on the left bank of the Hérault at Le Grau-d'Agde, where the river runs out into the Mediterranean. There are three places to sit: a dining room open to the quay, a shaded terrace, and the wooden pontoon that gives the place its name, built out over the river so that you eat with the water under your feet and the boats passing on their way to sea. The beach and the jetty are a few minutes' walk down the quay. The cooking is traditional and Mediterranean, and the house makes its own foie gras, a mi-cuit marinated in Muscat and cooked in a bain-marie, served as a jar for two. The card leans toward the sea: cuttlefish and king prawns on the plancha in Provençal butter, marinated tuna cooked rare, sea bream and sea bass fillets, moules-frites, a plancha mixed grill of fish, Bouzigues oysters and a fry of joël, the tiny local fish, with house aioli. For meat there is roast duck breast and a Black Angus ribeye. The Salade du Ponton stacks foie gras toast, cured ham, smoked salmon and blinis on one plate. A three-course set menu runs every day at lunch and dinner, with orders until 1:30 pm and 9:30 pm, and a children's menu covers children up to age ten. Until the end of June the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Sunday evenings; in July and August it opens every day. Reservations go through the mobile number +33 6 27 20 09 03. Access is step-free, restaurant vouchers and French holiday checks are accepted, and groups of up to 150 can be seated on request. From Agde old town it is four kilometers downriver, ten minutes by car.

L'Ami Louis is a fish and seafood restaurant on the quay at Centre-Port in Cap d'Agde, at Quai Di Dominico, 11 Rue de la Gabelle. The name goes back to 1931, when Louis, great-grandfather of the current generation, opened a bar-brasserie near Paris. His daughter Janine and her husband Joseph Abadie took over in 1960; Joseph came from Portiragnes near Béziers, and when Cap d'Agde was built as a resort in the 1970s the family moved south and reopened on the Port Brescou quays. Sons Jean-Louis and Jérôme took charge in 1990, and Vincent Abadie, Joseph's eldest grandson, joined in 2003: four generations. The dining room is contemporary, in pastel tones, with a view over the marina. Fish and shellfish come first: Thau lagoon oysters, rock-fish soup with rouille, sea bass in a salt crust sold by weight, sole belle meunière, monkfish bourride, and lobster or langoustines sold by weight in season. Meat eaters get a four-hour braised lamb shank, duck confit or beef filet; the wines are Minervois, La Clape, Faugères. There is a two-course express formula at weekday lunch, three set menus of increasing length, the full carte, and a children's menu up to age eight. Lunch runs from noon to 1:45 pm, dinner from 7 to 9:45 pm. Outside July and August the restaurant is closed Wednesday, Thursday and Tuesday evening; in high season it serves every evening, with an early-diner offer between 7 and 7:30 pm. Book by phone on +33 4 67 26 25 48 or through the form on the website, not by email. Dogs are welcome if mentioned when booking; high chairs are few, so ask. From a rental in the marina it is a short walk; from Agde old town a quarter of an hour by car.

11 Allée de la Flânerie, 34300 Le Cap d'Agde

+33467263262

Passion Glacée is an ice-cream parlor at 11 Allée de la Flânerie, the pedestrian street at the heart of Centre-Port in Cap d'Agde, a few steps from the marina. It is a producer, not just a shop: the ice cream is made on the premises in the Italian style from raw ingredients rather than powders or mixes, and even the cones are baked in-house, including a chocolate-dipped version. Alongside the scooped flavors there are sorbets, soft-serve, granitas, milkshakes and smoothies, and for the children crêpes, bubble waffles and churros, also made on site. For the 2025 opening weekend the special was a Ferrero Rocher ice cream churned on the spot. The parlor works a summer rhythm: it opens for the Easter weekend and serves through the season, with the longest lines on July and August evenings when the promenade fills after dinner. There is seating, so it works as a sit-down stop rather than a takeaway window only, and the entrance is step-free. Cards and contactless payment are accepted, Pluxee meal cards too, and there is Wi-Fi. The phone number is +33 4 67 26 32 62; flavors and opening days are posted on the shop's Facebook and Instagram accounts, the quickest way to check a shoulder-season day. For a family in a rental at Cap d'Agde the position is the point: the parlor sits between the marina and the resort beaches, so it fits into an evening walk after the beach or a turn round the port. From Agde old town it is a quarter of an hour by car; the Allée itself is closed to cars, so park in one of the lots around Centre-Port and walk the last stretch.

26 Cour de la Filature, 12330 Salles-la-Source

+33565672908

Restaurant Cascade stands on Cour de la Filature in Salles-la-Source, close to the waterfall that gives the restaurant its name. Léna Bony and Mathieu Libourel took over the house in 2022, bringing their experience back to Aveyron and building a restaurant around local ingredients, seasonal cooking, and a welcoming atmosphere. The setting places a meal within the village itself, with its distinctive natural landmark nearby. Both owners have roots in the region. Léna grew up in a restaurant family and trained at the hospitality school in Saint-Chély-d'Apcher, where she met Mathieu. Originally from Millau and the son of a farmer, Mathieu developed an early interest in cooking and restaurant management. They subsequently worked together in Geneva before returning to Aveyron to manage Château de Labro. Chef Marine Guichou joined them after completing her studies in 2019 and continued with the team when they moved to Cascade. The restaurant's approach brings traditional regional cooking together with a more inventive treatment of the ingredients. Its main dining space is designed for relaxed meals with friends or family, with a modern and convivial atmosphere. A separate space, Le Toit Canaille, accommodates private celebrations and professional gatherings, including meetings, seminars, and receptions. Menus for these events are arranged around the group's needs. Visitors can contact the team directly to discuss a meal or a larger occasion. The combination of a village restaurant and a dedicated event space gives the house several ways to welcome guests.

Les Cocottes en Folie

2882 Route de la Vallée des Douzes, 12330 Muret-le-Château

+33565477157

Les Cocottes en Folie is the restaurant of the Auberge du Château in Muret-le-Château. Its central idea is simple: a generous casserole placed on the table for people to share, recalling meals cooked at home and recipes passed down through families. Slow cooked dishes, fresh ingredients and local produce give the kitchen its direction. Laura and Yannick run the auberge as a family business. They describe discovering the village during a holiday and later leaving their commercial work in Montpellier to build a different life here. Yannick looks after the life of the house and its events, while Laura works both in the kitchen and in the dining room. That connection between cooking and welcoming guests is reflected in the restaurant's informal approach. The kitchen prepares its food on the premises, drawing on seasonal ingredients and nearby producers. Menus evolve with the produce available and the chef's inspiration. The restaurant welcomes people who are not staying at the inn, and its dining arrangements include quieter spaces as well as an emphasis on eating together. A terrace provides an outdoor setting, while the wider auberge includes a cafe and bar area. Birthdays, family meals and gatherings of friends can be arranged directly with the owners. The house also offers tailored menus for events. Vegetarian and gluten free meals can be prepared when dietary needs are explained during the reservation. Booking ahead is central to the way the restaurant works, making this a considered stop for a shared country meal rather than an extensive fixed menu.

Le Trublion

44 Tour de Ville, 12330 Marcillac-Vallon

Le Trublion is a traditional brasserie on Tour de Ville in the centre of Marcillac-Vallon. Owner Rémi puts local produce and straightforward homemade cooking at the heart of the place. Coffee and croissants are part of its identity alongside restaurant meals, and musical events give the brasserie another role as a gathering place in the village. Guests can contact the team about group meals or reserve a table by telephone. The menu changes with market deliveries and gives regional ingredients several different treatments. Salads include seasonal vegetables, breaded chicken with Parmesan, and crisp Pérail cheese with bacon. More substantial dishes include duck with blueberry sauce and lemon potatoes, pork with parsnip purée, and beef tartare cut by knife. Trout comes from the Moulin de Gourjan and is accompanied by vegetables of the moment. An entrecôte can be paired with Roquefort or pepper sauce. The burgers also draw on the surrounding countryside: both the cheddar version and the Aveyronnais use Aubrac beef, while the latter adds Roquefort sauce. A separate children's menu offers minced beef or nuggets with homemade fries and a dessert or ice cream. Homemade sweets include a reworked lemon tart, tiramisu, a soft centred chocolate cake, and brownies with caramelised peanuts. Waffles and hot drinks round out the selection. Between the changing dishes and the familiar brasserie choices, the kitchen leaves room for both a full meal and a simpler café visit.

Maison du vin du Marcillac

15 place de l'église, 12330 Marcillac-Vallon

+33672914698

Maison du vin du Marcillac is a wine and tapas bar on the church square in the historic centre of Marcillac-Vallon. Its focus is the wine of the surrounding valley and the independent growers whose different approaches give the local vineyards their variety. Wines are offered by the glass or bottle, making a visit an opportunity to explore individual producers alongside something to eat. The selection names estates including Domaine du Cros, Domaine Laurens, Domaine de Matha, Domaine du Mioula and Domaine Roquevert. The food follows the same local emphasis. Charcuterie boards include cured ham, while cheese boards bring together goat cheeses and Laguiole. Portions of aligot and bread from Marcillac provide other savoury choices. For something sweet, there are waffles, crêpes and ice cream from the Aubrac. Coffee, tea and bubble tea also appear on the menu, giving the bar an appeal beyond its wine selection. Visitors can contact the house directly to reserve a table. Behind the bar is a broader ambition to reconnect the village centre with its winegrowers. The Maison du Vin project centres on bringing four old red sandstone houses back into use, with plans linking wine, local history and the aromas of winemaking. That story gives the church square bar its context: a place to encounter the valley through its producers, its bottles and the regional foods served alongside them.

Auberge de la Cascade is a country restaurant in Polissal, in the commune of Saint-Félix-de-Lunel. Established in 1921 by the grandparents of the current owner, Laurence Bony, it grew from a small rural café into a restaurant with several dining spaces, a bar, and a room for gatherings. A stream and waterfall form part of its surroundings, while two car parks serve the property. The kitchen works mainly with fresh, local ingredients and prepares homemade dishes rooted in family recipes. Its specialities include calf's head, stockfish, kid goat with sorrel, and lamb sweetbreads in puff pastry. A soft chocolate cake is among the house desserts. Alongside these regional dishes, the restaurant offers dishes of the day and several menu formats, giving diners different ways to explore the cooking. The main dining room accommodates eighty people, while a separate air conditioned veranda seats twenty-five for private or family meals. Outside, a shaded terrace provides another setting for a meal or a pause beside the countryside. Groups can also arrange the dedicated function room, which has space for forty people and equipment including a microphone, sound system, and projector. It can be hired for meetings, gatherings, buffets, or dancing, with refreshments and a meal available as part of an arrangement. The house asks visitors to reserve their table by telephone. Its combination of regional food, family history, and flexible rooms makes the auberge a practical meeting place as well as a restaurant.

Auberge Aux Portes de Conques is a hotel and restaurant in Saint-Cyprien-sur-Dourdou, within the commune of Conques-en-Rouergue. Stéphanie and chef Christophe have welcomed guests here since 2007. The restaurant combines an indoor dining room with a flowered terrace shaded by trees, giving visitors a choice of settings within the same village inn. There is free parking behind the hotel, and tables can be reserved by telephone. The cooking has a strong regional character. Starters range from country charcuterie and seasonal raw vegetables to salads with cured duck, ham, or Roquefort. Soup and local tripous provide warmer alternatives. Main courses include duck confit, trout fillet, veal kidneys, and Aveyron veal with a cep mushroom sauce. Beef is served with Roquefort sauce, while an omelette with ceps offers another way to enjoy the mushrooms. Guests can choose individual dishes or follow one of the set menus. Regional cheeses have their own place at the end of a meal. The homemade dessert selection includes walnut tart, chestnut crème brûlée, and profiteroles, keeping the final course close to the inn's traditional style. A children's menu is available, and prepared trays can be ordered to take away. The dining room seats forty people and the terrace fifty according to the house's service information. With its ten guest rooms above and its restaurant below, the auberge brings accommodation and a substantial village meal together in one address.

La Gorguette is the beach-level restaurant at Hostellerie La Farandole, on Chemin de la Plage in Sanary-sur-Mer. The hotel stands beside the sandy Gorguette beach, facing the Bay of Bandol. Here, the restaurant's setting brings the meal close to the sea, with the coast forming the backdrop to a kitchen focused on fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Regional flavors guide the cooking, and the wine selection offers a way to explore both Provençal vineyards and the wider French wine tradition. The dining room has a sophisticated atmosphere within a contemporary seaside hotel. La Gorguette forms part of the property's seasonal restaurant arrangement, taking over in winter from the rooftop Panoramic. Guests choosing this address therefore encounter the beach-level setting rather than the roof terrace associated with the summer restaurant. The hotel also houses a bar serving hot drinks and refreshments, providing another place to gather around a restaurant visit. Contemporary artworks, exhibitions and sculpture contribute to the character of the wider property. Tables can be reserved directly, and the team also arranges catering for professional gatherings, including menus and cocktail receptions. Outdoor and underground parking are available on the premises, together with electric vehicle charging points. The combination of a coastal location and a regional approach to ingredients gives La Gorguette its identity. It offers a restaurant visit within a hotel designed around the beach, the bay and the surrounding Provençal landscape.

Le Bard'Ô overlooks Portissol beach from the edge of the bay in Sanary-sur-Mer. Its terrace faces the Mediterranean, while an indoor dining room provides another setting for a meal by the water. Andrew and his team combine restaurant dining with a bar and a program of live performances and visiting DJs. The atmosphere can therefore move from a relaxed seaside meal toward a more festive gathering. The menu travels between Mediterranean ingredients and flavors from farther afield. Sea bream carpaccio is paired with green apple, ginger and citrus, while tuna tataki comes with aromatic rice and an Asian salad. There are also clam linguine, mushroom risotto and truffle ravioli. Meat dishes include beef with herb butter, lamb shank with mashed potato and a veal chop with mushroom sauce. For sharing, guests can choose small dishes or boards of cured meats and cheeses. Desserts range from chocolate mousse to an exotic tiramisu involving lemon, coconut and passion fruit, with ice cream sundaes providing another finish. A separate children's menu is available. The terrace is also used for private gatherings, and the restaurant can prepare customized menus for birthdays, weddings, baptisms or business events. With space both inside and outdoors, it accommodates occasions larger than an ordinary table booking. The defining combination is the broad menu, sea-facing position and music program, bringing several kinds of outing together at the same beachside address.

Restaurant de la Tour

Sanary-sur-Mer · Fish and seafood · Lunch · Dinner

24 quai Général de Gaulle, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33494741010

Restaurant de la Tour stands on Sanary's harbor within the Hôtel de la Tour, a house whose story reaches back to the nineteenth century. The Mercier family's connection began in 1936, when Lyon chef Lucien Mercier acquired the hotel. Géraldine later took over as the family's third generation, and two great-grandsons joined the dining room team in 2024. That continuity provides the background to a restaurant centered on fish, shellfish and traditional service. Christian and Bruno prepare specialties including fish baked in a salt crust, bouillabaisse and bourride. Seafood platters offer another way to explore the kitchen's maritime focus. Ingredients come from local fishing and agriculture, supported by relationships with suppliers built over many years. The connection can be very direct: fishermen sometimes arrive in the hotel lobby with a notable catch. At the table, fish is carved in front of guests, preserving a style of service that is part of the restaurant's identity. A renovated dining room and a sunny terrace provide two settings for looking out toward the harbor. Seasonal changes shape the menu, while the daily dish often features fish and is followed by a dessert made by the pastry chef. The restaurant belongs to a hotel associated with visiting writers and artists, adding a sense of local history to the meal. Its appeal lies in that combination of a working port setting, established seafood specialties and a family hospitality tradition.

L.A Restaurant brings Anthony Lazzaro's cooking to Rue Barthélémy de Don, in the streets near Sanary's harbor. Anthony and Nadège welcome guests into a small restaurant with an indoor dining room and an enclosed courtyard terrace. The setting offers a sheltered place to eat while remaining in the town center. The kitchen draws on Provence and Calabria, combining the chef's family background with his training in cooking and pastry. His approach is to preserve the character of an ingredient while exploring unexpected combinations of flavors. A deliberately compact menu gives seasonal produce the central role. Preparations are made on the premises, extending from the small bites that begin a meal to the bread and the sweets that finish it. Guests can also choose a carte blanche experience, letting the chef determine the succession of dishes. That format suits diners who enjoy discovering a meal as it unfolds rather than choosing every course beforehand. The restaurant presents its cooking as a personal expression of a culinary inheritance, with attention given to both savory dishes and pastry. The courtyard and the interior provide different settings for the same intimate style of meal. Reservations can be made directly with the restaurant, including requests for a table for two or a larger party. Small, calm dogs are accepted when kept on a leash and on the floor throughout the meal. Appropriate dress is requested.

5 place Albert Cavet, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer

+33494322114

L'Endroit occupies Place Albert Cavet in central Sanary-sur-Mer, combining a Mediterranean kitchen with a wood-fired pizzeria. Chef Nicolas Corti leads the cooking, while Arthur Lemoine prepares the pizzas. The two sides of the menu share an emphasis on fresh ingredients, seasonal produce and preparation in the restaurant. Pizza dough is mixed on the premises, slowly fermented and stretched by hand before its brief encounter with the heat of the wood oven. Toppings range from familiar combinations to creations involving burrata and anchovies or grilled vegetables with homemade pesto. Freshly sliced ham and vegetables roasted over wood also feature in the pizzeria's approach. Beyond pizza, the cooking brings together Provence and Italy. Examples include linguine with prawns flambéed in pastis, truffle cream gnocchi, sea bream fillets with market vegetables and French veal prepared Milanese style. Other dishes include sea bass and small plates intended for sharing. The restaurant works with local fishmongers, vegetable growers and cheesemakers, connecting the menu with the surrounding area. A terrace provides an outdoor setting for the meal, alongside the restaurant's convivial atmosphere. This gives a group the option of choosing between pizza and other dishes without changing addresses. Tables can be requested through the restaurant's reservation service, and the team also takes telephone enquiries for particular requirements. The combination of a dedicated pizzaiolo and a separate kitchen gives the address its character: an artisan pizza restaurant with a broader Provençal and Italian repertoire.

L'Androuno is a small restaurant on Rue des Endronnes in central Draguignan, where Frédéric Chenillot's cooking combines French traditions with seasonal ideas. Caroline Di Lena looks after reservations and the welcome, while Frédéric works in the kitchen. The couple have managed the restaurant together since June 2014, giving the place a personal character shaped by their complementary roles. The dining room accommodates around fifteen guests. Outside, a terrace provides another setting for a meal and can become a pergola in colder weather. This modest scale is part of the restaurant's appeal: it offers a relatively intimate place to eat within the town centre, with space for both individual tables and organised gatherings. Fresh produce guides the kitchen, and the main menu changes approximately every three months. A separate daily selection allows the chef to respond more frequently to available ingredients. His approach draws on regional French cooking while leaving room for new combinations and adaptations. One example highlighted by the house is creamy lemon risotto with prawns, presented in different variations. Guests can choose from the available menus or order individual dishes. Takeaway meals can be arranged by reservation, and the restaurant also offers catering. For a family celebration, a meeting or a private gathering, the dining spaces can be booked with a menu discussed in advance. His career has included restaurants in France and Britain, and he also takes an interest in passing his experience to younger cooks. At Domino, the emphasis is on carefully prepared dishes served in surroundings intended to feel welcoming as well as considered. The choice includes a bistro selection, a restaurant menu and a separate chef's menu. Recent dishes illustrate the range: veal blanquette with vegetables and white rice, followed by a lychee, rose and raspberry parfait, or beef onglet with roasted parsnip and small potatoes. These are examples of a changing kitchen rather than a fixed list of permanent specialities. For private occasions, a reception room with a traditional fireplace can accommodate up to fifty seated guests. The layout can be adapted for family meals, intimate weddings, anniversaries or business gatherings. Menus, seated meals and cocktail receptions are discussed with the team. A private garden adds space for an aperitif or a break outdoors, while the restaurant terrace offers another way to enjoy the setting. Ordinary tables can be requested through the online booking service.

Restaurant La Grotte

Place des Moulins, 83720 Trans-en-Provence

+33494708759

Restaurant La Grotte brings a seasonal restaurant into a natural cave on Place des Moulins in Trans-en-Provence. Chantal and Philippe welcome guests with their team, while chef Philippe Funel develops a menu that changes roughly every three months. The setting gives the meal a distinctive character: a cave dining room rather than a conventional streetfront restaurant, suited to a shared celebration or a meal for two. The autumn selection combines familiar French ingredients with pasta, seafood and carefully assembled sauces. Starters include sea bream ceviche with coconut, vanilla and pineapple-lime gel, and a softly cooked egg with homemade butter brioche, Corsican coppa and Parmesan. A house speciality is linguine finished in a wheel of Parmesan and flambéed. Another pasta dish pairs pappardelle with Charolais beef, pan-fried foie gras and summer truffle. Fish preparations include salmon with Jerusalem artichoke cream, spelt and roasted hazelnuts, while monkfish comes with a concentrated bouillabaisse-style sauce. Meat choices range from veal to roast lamb and flambéed Charolais fillet. The seasonal burger uses homemade laminated brioche and is accompanied by homemade fries. Desserts continue the autumn theme with mandarin and chestnut tiramisu, apple with calisson cream, and homemade ice creams or sorbets. A separate children's menu offers meat, fish or pasta. Tables are reserved online, with a bank-card guarantee requested. Guests bringing a pushchair or a dog are asked to mention this when booking so the team can arrange a suitable place.

Bistro Pastis

4 Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, 83720 Trans-en-Provence

+33967217131

Bistro Pastis occupies Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Trans-en-Provence, with an Italian and Mediterranean identity and the flexibility of a village brasserie. Its position on the town hall square makes it a convenient place to pause while exploring the village. The kitchen describes its food as freshly prepared, drawing on regional dishes alongside Italian traditions. There is a choice between an air-conditioned interior and an outdoor terrace. The terrace is heated, extending the appeal of sitting outside beyond the warmest days. For a sweet finish, the selection described by the house includes tiramisu, cakes, tarts and ice cream, as well as pastries and chocolate desserts. This gives the restaurant an appeal beyond a full meal, particularly for visitors looking for something sweet with a drink. The local tourism listing records one dining room with fifty covers and a further fifty terrace covers. That arrangement offers two distinct ways to enjoy the same square: a table inside the brasserie or a seat outdoors in the village setting. A bar is also part of the establishment. Table requests can be made by telephone or through the reservation form. Takeaway is available, and private celebrations can be arranged directly with the team. Free Wi-Fi is provided, and several bank cards and contactless payments are accepted. Together, these practical facilities make Pastis an adaptable stop for couples, families or a gathering of friends.

Thu–Mon 12:00–13:30, 19:30–21:30; Tue–Wed Closed

Le Relais des Moines stands on Route de Sainte Roseline in Les Arcs-sur-Argens, in the countryside close to Trans-en-Provence. Chef Sébastien Sanjou discovered the house in February 2002 and developed it with his team into a restaurant shaped by two regions: his native southwest France and the Provençal and Mediterranean landscape around him. Sanjou comes from Bigorre and a family involved in food trades for five generations. That background remains part of his cooking, while the surrounding area's growers and other producers provide its present-day foundation. The result is contemporary food organised around seasonal ingredients and the people who supply them. A terrace sits within wooded grounds containing old oaks and pines. From there, the outlook takes in the medieval village of Les Arcs and the Massif des Maures. It is a setting that places the landscape alongside the cooking, with trees and the wider countryside forming part of the experience. The autumn menu includes roasted fish with violet artichokes and black olives, line-caught hake with cauliflower, samphire and cockles, and roast quail with confit legs and butternut squash. Other preparations bring together beef, ceps and chard, or raw scallops with fennel and citrus. Desserts feature local figs, pears, honey and hazelnuts, and there is a selection of farmhouse cheeses. Guests can choose a menu built as a sequence of courses or explore the individual dishes. Tables can be reserved directly, and enquiries about private events are welcomed through a dedicated form.

+33613158684

Le Saint-Jean is a village bar, restaurant and pizzeria on rue de la Mairie in Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte. The kitchen presents Italian cooking alongside French specialties, with pizza among its named dishes. The local tourism office adds a Savoy dimension, listing regional cooking and cheese specialties as part of the offer. Together, these give the restaurant a broader role than a pizza stop alone. Guests can come for lunch or dinner, sit on the terrace when the weather allows, or order food to take away. Drinks include coffee and tea, beer, wine and other alcoholic and soft drinks. The tourism listing describes one dining room with forty places and another forty seats on the terrace. It also identifies the restaurant as a venue for banquets, birthdays and group meals. Evening entertainment and karaoke are mentioned there, while the restaurant has published a past pop and rock event of its own. These details suggest a social village meeting place as much as somewhere to eat. Practical arrangements are clearly described by the operator. Parking is available without charge, guests with reduced mobility are welcomed, and dogs are allowed. Tables can be requested through the restaurant's reservation form or by telephone. Takeaway and catering are available for people arranging food elsewhere. Payment options include cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard and meal vouchers. Visitors planning a celebration or bringing a group can discuss their requirements directly with the restaurant. The combination of a bar, outdoor tables, French and Italian cooking, and meals to take home gives the address several uses during a stay in the area.

Mon–Sun 12:00–14:00, 19:00–21:00

Ô & Cimes combines a family restaurant, a bar and a small hotel on avenue Gaby Menaldo in Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny. The house describes itself as independent and family run, and its food brings together two traditions: French cooking and Moroccan specialties. Homemade couscous is one of the central dishes, presented as something to share with family or friends. There is also a royal couscous, whose precise composition and availability are discussed when booking. Pastillas offer another route into the Moroccan side of the kitchen. The restaurant names both chicken and fish versions and encourages guests to ask about them while arranging their meal. Traditional French dishes remain part of the offer alongside these specialties, so the restaurant's identity rests on the combination rather than a single national style. The same family approach carries into arrangements for larger parties. Guests planning a meal with relatives, friends or another group can contact the team with their date and number of participants to discuss the possibilities. A bar and terrace provide space for coffee or a drink before or after eating. The restaurant welcomes people coming for a meal as well as travelers staying in the hotel's seventeen rooms. Free parking is available on site, and table reservations are made directly by telephone. The municipality identifies the operators as Mr. and Mrs. Elhousny and lists the property as a hotel, restaurant and bar. For a nearby holiday stay, it offers a straightforward way to combine familiar French food with a Moroccan dish arranged directly with the family.

648 allée du Lac, 73250 Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny

Le Carouge sits beside the lake of the same name at the Carouge leisure area in Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny. Water and mountain views shape the setting, with a large shaded terrace giving the restaurant much of its outdoor character. The kitchen describes its approach as traditional French cooking made in house with local and seasonal produce. Its published examples include perch fillets and frog legs, while the autumn and winter presentation gives particular attention to frog legs prepared by advance order. A sommelier selects the wines to accompany the food, making the cellar another part of the restaurant's identity. There is also a lighter side to a visit, with drinks, pastries and crêpes available alongside the restaurant offer. This makes the address relevant for a lakeside pause as well as a full meal. The local tourism office describes a restaurant section and a separate snack chalet, with French songs and strings of lights contributing to a guinguette atmosphere. Its account also mentions mussels, homemade burgers and artisan ice cream. Groups can arrange a meal here, and the restaurant explicitly welcomes reservations for parties of ten or more. Birthdays, company gatherings and meals with friends are among the occasions it hosts. The entire restaurant can be booked for a private event by arrangement. For visitors staying nearby, the appeal is the combination of a proper meal, an outdoor setting and the lake immediately beside the leisure area. Reservations and event arrangements are handled directly with the restaurant by telephone.

La Table d'Auré is the restaurant of a hotel in Chamousset, at the meeting of the Tarentaise, Maurienne and Val Gelon valleys. Mallory and Aurélien Moutard run the house, bringing their hospitality backgrounds to a kitchen centered on food prepared in house from fresh ingredients. They work with local producers and choose products according to the season. The setting includes three restaurant rooms and a terrace beside a park of about four thousand square meters. The tourism office describes the grounds as bordered by a small river, giving the address a quieter outdoor dimension. The published menu shows a substantial French repertoire. Starters include game pie with Périgord sauce, eggs in red wine sauce and foie gras with Espelette pepper. Fish choices include Lake Geneva perch prepared meunière and a market fish dish with vegetables. Among the meat dishes are slowly cooked black pork from Pralognan, game stewed with Mondeuse wine, and veal kidneys with Madeira sauce. Larger dishes for sharing include lamb shoulder and beef, while cheese and desserts provide several ways to finish. Tarte Tatin, chocolate cake and roasted figs with blueberries appear among the sweet options. Wine is an important part of the house, with more than a hundred references from across France, a substantial Savoy selection and a choice of Chartreuse. The restaurant also accommodates business meals and groups, with a seminar room equipped for presentations. Its combination of seasonal cooking, several dining spaces and garden surroundings makes it a practical address for both individual meals and planned gatherings.

Le Repère

Bourgneuf · Pizza · French · Burgers

17 route de la Maurienne, 73390 Bourgneuf

+33479337405

Le Repère is a small restaurant on route de la Maurienne in Bourgneuf, opened in November 2023. The kitchen follows a traditional French brasserie approach, with food made in house and an emphasis on nearby producers. The team keeps the menu deliberately short and identifies its suppliers on the menu, making the origin of the ingredients part of the meal. Burgers feature in the restaurant's own account of its cooking, while pizza has a separate place in the offer. A changing daily menu provides another way to eat here. The owners describe their aim as serving generous food they enjoy cooking and giving the people already at the table time to enjoy themselves. That preference for a manageable room carries through to the setting: there is an indoor dining space and outdoor seating for meals in suitable weather. The restaurant can also be booked privately for birthdays, baptisms and other gatherings. Anyone organizing a group meal is asked to contact the team directly to discuss the event. The tourism office confirms private hire, lunch and dinner service, and evening entertainment as parts of the restaurant's activity. It also lists English and French as spoken languages and welcomes guests accompanied by pets. Card payments, cash, meal vouchers and contactless payments are accepted according to the same official listing. Reservations are handled directly with the restaurant. For visitors based around Saint-Pierre-d'Albigny, the appeal is a compact village brasserie with a clear connection to its suppliers and the possibility of arranging a more personal group occasion.

Restaurant L'École occupies the former village school in Vendoire, with the old school setting shaping the experience as much as the menu. This is a seasonal address: its published 2026 season runs from May into September, so contact the restaurant before planning a visit at another time of year. During the season, the flower-filled garden provides a setting for an aperitif, followed by dinner under the former covered playground. The restaurant is relatively small, with around 25 covers. It suits an evening when you want to sit down for food prepared to order and enjoy the garden surroundings, rather than simply make a quick stop between destinations. The kitchen works with fresh and local ingredients for homemade dishes. Its own food photographs illustrate garden tomatoes and harvests, smoked fish, prawns, scallops, pissaladière and lemon tart. These examples show the range of its cooking, while the actual choice depends on the current menu. Ask what is available when booking, especially if one of those ingredients is central to your plans. Sandrine Duvernois is the named operator, and reservations can be made by telephone. The restaurant lists a children's corner, accessible facilities, parking and Wi-Fi, and can discuss private celebrations. Evening meals and Sunday lunch form the published seasonal pattern. Check the opening dates, kitchen hours and arrangements for a larger party directly; the surrounding garden and small dining capacity make advance planning worthwhile.

Bistrot Les Cluzeaux is on Rue de Ribérac in La Rochebeaucourt-et-Argentine, on the Dordogne side of the border with Charente. Mathieu took over the restaurant in 2024 and gives its cooking a traditional foundation, using fresh, local and seasonal produce when supplies allow. The address combines a seated restaurant meal with tapas and occasional themed evenings. The Retour du Marché menu changes weekly and is served at weekday lunchtimes. It offers a starter, main course and dessert, while a separate blackboard selection gives further choices. The published tapas menu includes Serrano ham, duck croquettes, baked mussels, tuna tataki and baby squid with parsley and garlic. These smaller dishes make it possible to start with several flavours before choosing a main course. Examples on the restaurant's published main menu include veal with porcini cream, duck breast with thyme and honey, and cod with porcini sabayon. A vegetarian plate changes with the kitchen's current selection. Orange cheesecake, frozen nougat and strawberry pavlova appear among the desserts. Check the latest blackboard when you arrive, since the market-led approach means individual dishes can change. Reservations are taken directly by telephone. The published weekly timetable runs from Tuesday to Saturday, with separate lunch and evening periods; Monday and Sunday are closed. Ask about the current programme if you would like to combine dinner with one of the themed evenings, and mention dietary requirements when booking. Stéphane and Carine run a place with a simple, homemade approach to food and an active role in village life. The cooking draws on local products, with French, Italian and Mediterranean influences and vegetarian choices among the restaurant's stated specialities. The setting changes with the season. A fireplace gives the dining room a focal point in colder weather, while the terrace looks out towards the Charente countryside. There are two dining rooms and a total of around 60 indoor covers, together with approximately 30 terrace places. It is a useful address for a meal in the village rather than a roadside stop. Food and social events add variety to the usual menu. The village calendar includes regional food evenings, music gatherings and activities at the bar. The selection also includes salads, grilled dishes and fresh pasta, with tagliatelle specifically among the restaurant's specialities. Vegetarian choices are available, and ice cream offers a simple way to finish. This range is useful when one person wants pizza while someone else prefers pasta or a plate from the grill. Ask about the current selection when ordering, particularly if you have a dietary requirement. There is an indoor dining room and a covered outdoor terrace. The restaurant lists 48 indoor covers and 22 terrace places, so the outdoor area is relatively small compared with the dining room. For a larger gathering, group menus can be arranged on request; contact the team before bringing a party rather than relying on space being available. Takeaway service makes Chez Ninie a practical alternative when you prefer to eat at your accommodation. Dogs are welcome, and card and contactless payments are accepted. Le Bistroquet is Catherine and Thierry Laporte's restaurant on Avenue de l'Angoumois in Montmoreau. Its cooking follows the market and local produce, with homemade dishes served in a bistro setting. The town's restaurant guide also highlights a lunchtime dish of the day and wine by the glass, making it an option for lunch as well as a more leisurely evening meal. The kitchen's own illustrated dishes give an idea of its range. Examples include Limousin beef carpaccio, tuna cooked on the plancha with sauce vierge, truffle tagliatelle and a red-fruit pavlova. These are examples of the restaurant's changing cooking, rather than a fixed menu to expect on every visit. Consult the current menu if you are choosing the restaurant for a particular dish. In summer, the shaded terrace and lounge sit beneath four mulberry trees. Inside, the main restaurant has around 40 covers, while a separate room can accommodate a private party of 12 to 15. The smaller room is useful for a family gathering when arranged with the owners beforehand. Parking is available at the rear on Place de la Tude, with access to the terrace from that side. The restaurant offers accessible facilities and accepts card payments. Lunch and dinner have separate service windows; Sunday is lunch only and Monday is the closing day. Le Bifana is a Franco-Portuguese bar and restaurant on Avenue de l'Angoumois in Montmoreau. Food is part of a sociable setting that also includes billiards, darts, sports screenings and music. It is a choice for a meal with some bar atmosphere, particularly when a weekend event is taking place. Portuguese-style cod is one of the house specialities, with a cod dish normally offered at weekends. Tapas plates and burgers with homemade chips provide other options. For a shared meal, ask about the Chapeau Grill: pieces of meat cook on spikes around a hat-shaped grill, while vegetables below catch the cooking juices. This particular dish requires advance reservation, so it is something to arrange rather than assume will be available on arrival. The restaurant has two air-conditioned rooms and approximately 40 covers. Billiards tournaments are advertised for Saturdays, and the team can arrange events or lively weekend evenings. If you would prefer a quieter meal, telephone to check the programme before choosing your time. The municipality also lists takeaway service, useful when you want dinner back at your accommodation. Dogs are welcome and card payments are accepted. Published opening hours distinguish morning and lunchtime opening from evening sessions, with a shorter Monday. Confirm kitchen times directly rather than treating all bar opening hours as meal service. Carrer de la Font 6, 43595 Prat de Comte

Ca l'Àngels is a small hostal and restaurant on Carrer de la Font in Prat de Comte, a village close to Els Ports. The restaurant's focus is traditional Catalan cooking with vegetables from its own garden. It suits a visit built around the inland villages and mountain countryside, with substantial, familiar dishes at the centre of the experience. The house describes a repertoire of slow-cooked meals: escudella, other stews, meat with potatoes and cod with potatoes. Its local restaurant profile also highlights rabbit and chicken cooked in a casserole, grilled meats, baked cod and fricandó. Together they give a clear picture of the kitchen's style, with the emphasis on home cooking rather than an elaborate tasting format. Ask which preparations are available on the day. The dining room accommodates around seventy people, and the restaurant accepts arrangements for celebrations and meals prepared to order. A daily menu and a wider choice of dishes are advertised locally, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner service. This makes it useful to discuss the occasion when booking: a straightforward stop during an outing needs different arrangements from a family gathering with a fixed menu. The address places you in Prat de Comte, rather than in the centre of Horta de Sant Joan, so allow for the journey through the surrounding countryside. Contact the hostal directly to confirm restaurant hours and your table. For guests looking for a regional meal, the garden produce, casserole dishes and village setting are the main reasons to make the trip.

Restaurant Miralles brings the farming traditions of Horta de Sant Joan into a family hotel on Avinguda de la Generalitat. Its cooking centres on patient preparation and ingredients from the surrounding countryside: garden vegetables, local olive oil, artisan bread, naturally grazed lamb and wines from the family's vineyards. It is a particularly interesting stop for visitors who want a meal connected to the agricultural landscape of Terra Alta. The house speciality is crestó en escabeche, a slowly prepared goat dish with a story of its own. Salvador Miralles helped preserve the local white-goat tradition after the herds of Els Ports declined. The restaurant explains that the animals' mountain grazing and careful husbandry are central to the dish. Ask about its availability when reserving, especially if trying this regional speciality is the reason for your visit. There are different spaces for different occasions. The Nurianna dining room has stone arches, timber beams, a fireplace and a wood-fired oven; a smaller private room accommodates celebrations. A separate, larger dining room has mountain views and space for groups. Weekday and weekend menus are offered, alongside arrangements for organised meals and family occasions. The Miralles family's hospitality grew from a modest local inn into the present hotel and restaurant. For a day exploring Horta or the nearby mountain country, reserve a table directly and discuss the current menu and any dietary requirements. The slow-cooked local speciality and the family's own produce give the meal its distinctive character.

Can Joan stands beside the T-334 at one of the entrances to Horta de Sant Joan, with views towards the Els Ports mountains. This small family restaurant concentrates on home-style cooking and gives visitors several ways to stop: a substantial breakfast, a daily menu, a sandwich or a more leisurely meal with wine from Terra Alta. The advertised selection includes slowly cooked spoon dishes, meat dishes, salads, toast and combination plates. The range is useful when a group arrives with different appetites after exploring the village or countryside. Those interested in the traditional side of the menu should ask about the day's stews and the esmorzar de forquilla, the hearty, knife-and-fork breakfast that the restaurant specifically offers. Can Joan also has a connection to Horta's culinary history. The university-backed Cuina dels Genis project recorded a local recapte recipe associated with its kitchen, combining beans, chickpeas, vegetables and pork products. That historical recipe illustrates the resourceful cooking of the area; the current daily menu is the best guide to what will actually arrive at your table. Inside, the restaurant has space for forty-eight diners, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The team also welcomes enquiries about group meals, meetings and celebrations. Contact them in advance for opening times, table availability and any dietary requirements, particularly if you are organising a meal around an excursion. A glass from the D.O. Avenida Cataluña, 57, 44610 Calaceite

Fonda Alcalá is a family restaurant in Calaceite whose cooking connects the Matarraña countryside with more than a century of hospitality. Founded in 1922 and now in its fourth generation, the house combines inherited recipes with newer preparations. It is a place for a deliberate meal, with the region's beans, olive-growing landscape and slow-cooked dishes providing a strong sense of location. The traditional side includes white beans from Beceite, served with a choice such as cured sardine, house-cured pork belly or local longaniza. Ternasco lamb from Aragon is cooked slowly, while the menu preserves family meatball and partridge recipes. Alongside these are prawn tartare with grilled bone marrow and ravioli filled with duck and foie from Teruel. The range makes the relationship between old and new easy to explore at the table. Fish choices include grilled wild cod and a market-dependent fish of the day. The kitchen also offers vegetarian preparations that can be adapted for vegan diners, seasonal suggestions and a nine-course tasting menu called Cuarta Generación. That tasting format requires an advance reservation and can be accompanied by a wine pairing; the cellar includes wines and cavas from the surrounding region. Desserts are made in house, with an apple pudding from the family repertoire and an almond dessert among the choices. Book directly for your preferred format and mention any dietary requirements in advance. Customer parking is provided opposite the restaurant. If travelling with a dog, ask when reserving: the team considers requests according to what can be accommodated.
