Brian's Place

Brian's Place brings Spanish and Italian cooking together on Shoal Line Boulevard in Hernando Beach. Chef Brian Alvarez connects that combination to his Latin-Italian family background and his experience in Florida kitchens. The business began as a deli with his father in 2004 and later moved to a larger restaurant with a full bar, a patio and space for groups.

The menu makes those influences easy to spot. Starters include chorizo crostini, coconut-crusted shrimp and mussels with chickpeas and chorizo. A Cuban quesadilla combines roast pork, ham, salami and Swiss cheese, while the salads range from mozzarella and tomato to spinach with almonds and Gorgonzola. Among the main dishes, grouper comes with plantain in several forms, including a salsa and a crisp garnish. Slow-roasted mojo pork is another Latin-influenced choice.
