The difference
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn ₹1,06,507 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a ₹1,06,507 listing | ₹89,999 | ₹79,881–₹90,531 | ₹1,06,507 |
| Guest paysfor ₹1,06,507 to reach the owner | ₹1,25,998 | ₹1,25,253–₹1,41,974 | ₹1,13,856 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than ₹2,13,015 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

About Indonesia
Indonesia is a sprawling archipelago of thousands of islands, and for holiday-rental travellers it offers a remarkable range under one country. Bali remains the heart of it: Ubud for rice-terrace calm and wellness, Seminyak for dining and beach clubs, Canggu for surf and cafe culture, and clifftop Uluwatu on the Bukit Peninsula. Just offshore lie the low-key Gili Islands and the wilder beaches of Lombok, plus Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan for dramatic viewpoints and quieter shores. Further east, Labuan Bajo on Flores is the gateway to Komodo National Park and its dragons. On Java, Yogyakarta pairs the temples of Borobudur and Prambanan with an affordable, walkable city, while Jakarta serves as the busy capital and main flight hub. Accommodation spans private pool villas, boutique guesthouses, family homestays and beachfront bungalows to suit most budgets.
Good to know
Much of Indonesia has a dry season roughly from May to October and a wetter season from around November to April, though patterns vary by island. In Bali, the dry months bring clearer skies and calmer seas, which suits beaches, surfing and diving. May, June and September are often a good balance of pleasant weather and smaller crowds, while July and August are the busiest and priciest. The wet season can still be a good-value time for a relaxed stay. Always check current forecasts before you travel.
Many nationalities can enter on a visa on arrival or an e-visa for tourism, and rules differ by passport and can change. Because entry requirements, fees and permitted lengths of stay are updated periodically, check the official Indonesian immigration information for your nationality before booking flights. Note that overstaying a tourist visa carries a daily fine, so confirm your allowed duration and any extension process in advance.
Bali has introduced a tourism levy for many foreign visitors, payable online before travel or on arrival. The exact amount and payment methods can change, so check the official Bali levy portal for the current fee and process before you go. This is separate from any visa cost and from the accommodation price you agree with your host.
On Bali, many travellers use scooters, private drivers or ride-hailing apps; distances can take longer than the map suggests because of traffic. Boats connect Bali with the Gili Islands, Lombok, Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, while domestic flights link Bali and Jakarta with Yogyakarta and Labuan Bajo.
