When is the best time to visit Sweden?
It depends on what you want. Summer, roughly June to August, is peak cottage season: long, light evenings, warm lake and sea swims, and in the far north the midnight sun. Late spring and early autumn are quieter and often lovely for hiking and coastlines. Winter is the time to head to Swedish Lapland for snow, dog sledding and a chance at the northern lights.

What is allemansrätten, the right to roam?
Allemansrätten is Sweden's right of public access, a cherished part of the culture. In simple terms it lets you walk, cycle, swim, paddle and pick wild berries and mushrooms across most open land, and camp briefly on uncultivated ground. The guiding principle is do not disturb, do not destroy: keep away from homes and gardens, respect wildlife and crops, and leave no trace.
