Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

Popular places to stay in Morocco

Morocco rewards travellers who like variety within easy reach. Marrakech is the classic starting point, its walled medina wrapped around the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the Koutoubia minaret and the Majorelle garden, with traditional riads - courtyard houses turned into guest accommodation - tucked down its lanes. West on the Atlantic, breezy Essaouira keeps its fortified ramparts and easy pace, while Agadir offers a modern beach-resort base and a springboard for tours inland. Fes, the country's cultural heart, holds one of the world's great medieval medinas and its ancient university quarter. Behind the cities rise the High Atlas Mountains, laced with Berber villages and trekking trails, and beyond them the Sahara begins near Merzouga, where camps sit among the Erg Chebbi dunes. In the northern Rif, the blue-washed alleys of Chefchaouen draw photographers and wanderers. Riads, coastal apartments, mountain guesthouses and desert camps each suit a different leg of the journey, and many visitors thread several together over a week or two.

Holiday homes in Morocco: FAQ

Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗
What is a riad and should I stay in one?

A riad is a traditional Moroccan house built around an interior courtyard or garden, many of which have been restored as guest accommodation. Staying in one puts you inside the historic medina, close to the souks and monuments, in a quiet, shaded space away from the street noise. They are especially characteristic of Marrakech and Fes. Rooms and layouts vary widely, so read the listing and ask the host what to expect.

When is the best time to visit Morocco?

Spring and autumn are widely considered the most comfortable across much of the country, avoiding the peak summer heat inland in Marrakech and the Sahara. Mountain trekking is generally best from late spring through autumn, while the Atlantic coast stays milder in summer. Because conditions differ sharply between the desert, the mountains and the coast, plan around the specific regions you intend to combine.

How do I get from the cities to the mountains or the desert?

Many travellers base themselves in a city like Marrakech or Fes and take organised excursions or hire a driver for the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara, since the routes are long and scenic. Some regions are reachable by train or bus between major towns, with local transport onward. Your host can often point you to reliable drivers or desert-camp operators and advise on realistic travel times.

What kinds of holiday rentals are available in Morocco?

The choice spans courtyard riads in the medinas, apartments and villas along the Atlantic coast, guesthouses in Atlas mountain villages and tented camps in the desert. Some are self-catering, while riads often include breakfast and a host on hand. Photos and the property description will show the style and what is provided, and you can message the owner for anything the listing does not cover.

How does booking direct on BookNoFees work?
