Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 3.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. About Florida Keys
Staying in Florida Keys
The Florida Keys unspool southwest from the mainland as a chain of low, sun-warmed islands strung together by the Overseas Highway, a stretch of U.S. 1 that hops from key to key across a series of bridges, the famous Seven Mile Bridge among them. Drivers track their progress by green mile markers that count down toward Mile Marker 0 in Key West. Each community has its own character. Key Largo, the first island south of Miami, is the gateway to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and North America's living coral reef, a magnet for snorkelers and scuba divers. Islamorada bills itself as a sportfishing capital, its flats and offshore waters drawing anglers year-round. Marathon sits in the middle Keys, a practical base with family beaches and marinas. Beyond it, the Lower Keys keep a quieter, wilder feel before the road ends in Key West, the southernmost city in the continental United States, known for its nightly sunset gatherings, historic conch houses and easygoing spirit. Warm, breezy winters and a laid-back rhythm make the whole archipelago a year-round escape. Renting a home or condo here lets you settle into island time on your own terms, close to the water you came for.
Good to know
Holiday homes in Florida Keys — FAQ
How do you get around the Florida Keys?
Almost everything runs along the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1), which links the islands from Key Largo down to Key West. Addresses and directions are commonly given by mile marker (MM), counting down toward MM 0 in Key West. A car is the easiest way to explore end to end, and many visitors also get out on the water by boat, kayak or bike.
What is there to do in the Keys besides the beach?
The Keys are built around the water. Key Largo's John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the first underwater park in the U.S., with snorkeling, scuba diving and glass-bottom boat trips over the reef. Islamorada is known for sportfishing, Marathon and the Lower Keys have wildlife and nature areas, and Key West adds historic streets, museums and its famous sunset celebrations.
When is the best time to visit the Florida Keys?
The dry season from roughly November to April brings warm, sunny, breezy weather and is the most popular stretch, so book early. Summer is hotter and more humid with a chance of storms, but it can be quieter and better value. Water conditions are generally good for diving and fishing throughout the year.
Which island should I base myself on?
It depends on your trip. Key Largo suits divers and snorkelers who want the reef close by. Islamorada is ideal for anglers and a slightly more upscale pace. Marathon is a central, family-friendly base. The Lower Keys are quiet and natural, while Key West is best for nightlife, history and walkable town life. Many visitors split their stay between two islands.
How does booking a Florida Keys rental on BookNoFees work?
You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds.
Why book direct instead of through a big platform?
BookNoFees deducts no commission from the amount set by the host. The displayed total includes a 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds, and BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout.
