The difference
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn ₹1,06,507 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a ₹1,06,507 listing | ₹89,999 | ₹79,881–₹90,531 | ₹1,06,507 |
| Guest paysfor ₹1,06,507 to reach the owner | ₹1,25,998 | ₹1,25,253–₹1,41,974 | ₹1,13,856 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than ₹2,13,015 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

About Azores
The Azores are nine volcanic islands scattered across the mid-Atlantic, a green, wave-washed corner of Portugal roughly halfway to North America. Remote and deeply scenic, they feel like a world of their own: emerald craters, steaming geothermal valleys, hydrangea-lined lanes and some of the best whale watching in the world. São Miguel, the largest island and home to the capital Ponta Delgada, is the usual first stop. Here the twin crater lakes of Sete Cidades, one green and one blue, sit in a vast caldera, while in Furnas the ground itself bubbles and steams, and locals slow-cook cozido stew for hours in the volcanic soil. Out in the central group, Pico island is crowned by Mount Pico, at 2,351 metres the highest point in all of Portugal, rising straight from the sea above old vineyards walled in black lava. The waters around the islands teem with whales and dolphins, drawing boat trips from spring onward. Cool, changeable and gloriously green, the Azores reward walkers, divers and anyone chasing landscapes few people have seen.
Good to know
Most visitors fly into São Miguel's airport at Ponta Delgada, with connections from mainland Portugal and a number of European and North American cities. Inter-island flights and ferries then link the nine islands, though sea crossings depend on the weather and season. Many people focus on one or two islands per trip rather than trying to see them all at once.
The Azores have a mild, oceanic climate with temperatures that stay moderate year-round, but the weather is famously changeable and can shift within a single day. Summer is the warmest and busiest stretch and the prime whale-watching and hiking season, while spring brings flowers and green landscapes. Pack layers and a waterproof whatever the month, as conditions vary between islands and altitudes.
São Miguel is the largest and easiest introduction, with Sete Cidades, Furnas and Ponta Delgada. Pico draws hikers keen to climb Portugal's highest mountain and taste its lava-field wines. Faial, Terceira and the smaller islands each have their own character. If it is your first visit and time is short, many travellers base themselves on São Miguel and add one more island.
Yes, the waters around the Azores are one of the world's notable spots for whales and dolphins, and boat trips run from several islands. Sightings are seasonal and never guaranteed, as they depend on the animals and the sea conditions, but a variety of species pass through. Operators emphasise responsible viewing, so book with a reputable outfit and check the season with your host.
You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks.
BookNoFees deducts no commission from the amount set by the host. The displayed total includes a 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks. Nothing is added at checkout.
