The difference
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn ₹1,06,148 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a ₹1,06,148 listing | ₹89,695 | ₹79,611–₹90,225 | ₹1,06,148 |
| Guest paysfor ₹1,06,148 to reach the owner | ₹1,25,573 | ₹1,24,830–₹1,41,495 | ₹1,13,472 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than ₹2,12,295 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.
Popular places
Phuket is Thailand's largest island, a mountainous strip of the Andaman coast connected to the mainland by bridge and served by its own international airport. Its personality lives along the west coast, where a 40-kilometre run of sandy bays faces the sunset. The beaches change character every few kilometres: Patong is the loud, neon heart of the island's nightlife and shopping; Kata and Karon are calmer family favourites just to the south; Kamala and Surin have grown chic and upscale, backed by the villa-covered hillsides often nicknamed the 'Millionaire's Mile'; Bang Tao and the neighbouring Laguna resort estate spread wide and manicured to the north. In the far south, Nai Harn and Rawai keep a slower, more local rhythm. Away from the sand, Old Phuket Town rewards a wander with its pastel Sino-Portuguese shophouses, while the hilltop Big Buddha and countless boat trips to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay fill the days.

Holiday homes in Phuket: FAQ
Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗It depends on the holiday you want. Patong is the place for nightlife, shopping and a lively beachfront, but it can be noisy. Kata and Karon, just south, are the classic middle ground: good swimming beaches with restaurants and a calmer feel, popular with families. Kamala and Surin are quieter and more upscale, backed by hillside villas. Bang Tao and the Laguna estate to the north suit those wanting a spread-out resort setting. For a slower, more local pace, look to Nai Harn and Rawai in the south. Renting a whole villa or apartment direct works well in all of these areas.
The dry season runs roughly from November to April and is considered the best window, with sunnier skies and calmer seas on the west coast; December to March is the busiest peak. The monsoon months of about May to October bring more rain and rougher water, and the west-coast beaches often fly red flags warning of strong rip currents. If you travel in the green season, swim only where lifeguards allow and always respect the flags.
Phuket is large and its attractions are spread out, so you will need transport. Many visitors use the Grab ride-hailing app, which shows the fare before you book and is widely available around the main beaches; waits can be longer in more remote spots. Fixed-price airport-taxi vouchers and private transfers are also common. Renting a car gives the most freedom for exploring the coast and the interior, though local driving can be busy. Motorbike rental is popular but only for confident, licensed riders wearing helmets.
Phuket is a springboard for some of Thailand's most famous seascapes. Speedboats and longtails run to the Phi Phi Islands, known for dramatic limestone cliffs, clear water and snorkelling. Phang Nga Bay to the northeast is dotted with towering karst outcrops, including the islet made famous by a 1970s James Bond film and often visited by boat or sea kayak. Other trips reach the Similan Islands (seasonal) and smaller nearby bays. Tours run mostly in the dry season and are frequently cancelled in rough weather, so build in a spare day.
Both. Patong concentrates the island's nightlife and shopping, so families who want quiet often base themselves elsewhere. Kata, Karon, Kamala and Nai Harn all have gentler beaches and a more relaxed atmosphere that suit children. A private holiday rental with a kitchen and pool can make family trips easier, and many areas have supermarkets, clinics and family-friendly restaurants within a short drive.
Old Phuket Town is a highlight, with its restored Sino-Portuguese shophouses along streets like Thalang Road, café culture, temples and a lively weekend walking-street market. The hilltop Big Buddha is a large white statue with panoramic views over the south of the island. You will also find temples, viewpoints over the southern capes, markets, cooking classes and a strong street-food and seafood scene. It is worth pairing a few days of culture and exploring with your beach time.
