Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 3.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. About Bahamas

Staying in Bahamas

The Bahamas is not one island but an archipelago of hundreds of islands and cays scattered across the clear shallows off Florida's coast, only a few dozen of them inhabited. That geography shapes every trip: you choose your islands, then move between them by short flight or fast ferry. Nassau, on New Providence, is the busy hub — home to the Atlantis megaresort, colonial forts and the straw market — and its neighbour Paradise Island concentrates the big hotels. Beyond it, the mood changes quickly. The Exumas string a chain of cays through impossibly turquoise water, famous for swimming pigs, blue holes and hidden sandbars. Eleuthera and tiny Harbour Island trade crowds for pink-sand beaches, clapboard settlements and a quiet, boutique kind of luxury. Grand Bahama pairs national-park wilderness and a vast underwater cave system with easy value and simple access. English is spoken everywhere and the Bahamian dollar runs at par with the US dollar, so budgeting is straightforward.

Good to know

Holiday homes in Bahamas — FAQ

When is the best time to visit the Bahamas?

The cooler, drier stretch from roughly December to April is the peak window, with pleasant temperatures and calm seas ideal for beaches and boating. Late summer and autumn are hotter and fall within the wider Atlantic hurricane season, so travelers in those months should keep an eye on forecasts and consider flexible bookings. Sea conditions matter for island-hopping, so check ferry and flight schedules for the islands you plan to link.

How do I travel between the islands?

Because the Bahamas is spread across many islands, getting around usually means short domestic flights or fast ferries from Nassau to the Out Islands such as Exuma, Eleuthera and Harbour Island. Within an island, taxis, golf carts and rental cars are common depending on the destination. It's worth planning inter-island connections in advance, as schedules to the quieter islands can be limited and fill up in peak season.

Which island suits the kind of trip I want?

Nassau and Paradise Island are best for big resorts, nightlife and easy access; the Exumas are the star for boat trips, sandbars and the swimming pigs; Eleuthera and Harbour Island suit travelers wanting quiet, pink-sand beaches and boutique stays; and Grand Bahama offers nature and value. Many visitors combine a hub island with one quieter Out Island to balance convenience with seclusion.

What currency and language are used?

English is the official language, so communication is easy for most visitors. The Bahamian dollar is the local currency and is pegged at par with the US dollar, which is also widely accepted, so you can often use either. Cards are common in resort areas, but carrying some cash is handy on the smaller Out Islands where facilities are more limited. Ask the local business which payment methods it accepts before paying.

How does BookNoFees keep my costs down?

BookNoFees deducts no commission from the amount set by the host. The displayed total includes a 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds, and BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout.

What are the advantages of booking direct with an Out Island host?

You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds.
