Konoba Vorichi

Konoba Vorichi stands at the edge of Orihi, a village in the municipality of Barban, with greenery and vineyards around the restaurant. Its name preserves an older name for the village, and the tavern first welcomed guests in 2013. The kitchen combines Istrian traditions with contemporary preparation, drawing on produce from nearby farms and a family tradition of making bread and pasta by hand. Sourdough, focaccia and grissini introduce a menu in which familiar regional ingredients appear in varied combinations.

The off-season selection includes local cured meats, a cheese platter with ricotta and cow’s and goat’s cheeses, beef tartare and a cold fish platter. Pasta choices range from fuži with truffles to ravioli with cheese, hazelnut and pancetta. Cheese-filled gnocchi come with saffron, sage and almond, while the risotto combines cod with spicy sausage. Maneštra brings together prosciutto, corn, beans and barley in an Istrian stew. Larger dishes include pork loin with leek and parsnip cream, smoked brisket with root vegetables, steaks and fish fillet.

Desserts continue the kitchen’s interest in unexpected pairings: puff pastry with hazelnut and mascarpone creams, a chocolate tart, and rice with truffle ice cream and crumble. The wine selection accompanies views towards Malvasia vines. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available, and dogs are welcome indoors and outside under their owners’ supervision. Children have a garden and vineyard area to explore. Parking is beside the tavern, and the team also arranges family celebrations and business gatherings. Advance reservations are recommended, particularly for weekends and the tourist season.
