Restaurante Calima

Calima brings Moroccan and Mediterranean cooking together on Plaza del Arbollón in Mojácar village. Its food draws on Morocco, the Middle East and Africa alongside Andalucía and the Spanish Mediterranean coast. An indoor dining space and a terrace offer two settings for exploring a menu that moves between vegetables, pastry, fish and slowly cooked meat. Homemade bread and Moroccan tea belong to the same approach, linking the smaller accompaniments to the main dishes.

Starters include zaluk, made with roasted aubergine, tomato and garlic, and taktuka, combining peppers, tomato, courgette and spices. A Syrian salad brings together tomato, cucumber, onion, raisins, mint and parsley. Hummus provides another vegetable option. Pastelas take the cooking in a different direction: the chicken version includes almonds and warming spices, while the seafood version combines prawns, hake and squid with rice noodles.

The tagines offer several distinct combinations. Lamb comes with prunes, almonds and sesame; chicken is paired with olives and preserved lemon. A kefta tagine combines minced beef, tomato and egg, and there is also a fish version. Couscous can be ordered with lamb, beef, chicken or vegetables. Spanish dishes appear alongside these preparations, including squid, patatas bravas and prawns with garlic and chilli. Children have a separate menu section with croquettes and potatoes. To finish, the choices include baklava, coffee panna cotta and a white chocolate dessert with cream and yoghurt. Guests with questions about allergens can discuss individual dishes with the staff.
