Bollywood Spices occupies a spot in the Montecastillo Centre in Caleta de Fuste, with an outdoor terrace looking across the town towards the ocean. There is also an indoor dining room, giving guests a choice between the view outside and a table inside. The restaurant welcomes couples, families and larger parties, and takes table reservations. Its cooking centres on Indian curries and dishes prepared over the flame of the tandoor. Starters include onion bhajis made with chickpea flour batter, vegetable samosas, chicken pakoras and lamb kebabs. Mixed starter platters bring several preparations together for sharing, while lentil soup offers a different beginning. The tandoori section ranges from garlic chicken tikka to lamb tikka, king prawns and paneer marinated with spices. Malai tikka uses chicken with cheese and cream, offering another direction alongside the more familiar tandoori masala preparations. Vegetables have a substantial section of their own. Potatoes appear with spinach in saag aloo and with cauliflower in aloo gobhi; palak paneer combines spinach and fresh cheese. There are lentil dishes, mushrooms with tomato and garlic, and chickpeas in an onion and tomato gravy. Curry choices extend from creamy coconut korma to drier bhuna and hotter preparations. This breadth makes the restaurant worth considering when a table includes people who want different ingredients and styles of cooking. A meal here can be built around the grill, a selection of vegetable dishes, or a combination of both.
