La Corderie sits on the Cité d'Alet peninsula in Saint-Servan, on the far side of the harbour from the walled town, with a terrace that looks across the estuary of the Rance to Dinard. The same family has run it for more than thirty-five years, and the kitchen has stayed with what the boats bring in: sole and bass from the bay, scallops in season, lobster from the tank, a fish soup that regulars order without opening the menu. It is a quiet, unhurried place, better for a long lunch with the view than for a quick bite. Booking is wise for the terrace on a sunny day.

La Creperie Kafe is a family-owned French restaurant in the Shops at Palm Harbor in Palm Coast. Its cooking draws on family recipes passed between generations, with dishes prepared from scratch and a choice of a dining room or outdoor seating. Crepes are the central attraction, but quiches, croissants and French sandwiches give the menu several directions. The savory crepe selection includes La Complete with scrambled eggs, ham and Swiss cheese, a spinach and provolone version, and a three-cheese combination of goat cheese, Brie and Swiss. Smoked salmon comes with capers and sour cream, while another crepe brings together shrimp, garlic, parsley and cream. Savory crepes are accompanied by gratin dauphinois and fruit. Guests can also build their own combination of fillings. Quiche Lorraine combines eggs, bacon, ham, Swiss cheese and creme fraiche in pastry, alongside a spinach quiche and a changing monthly option. Croque Monsieur offers baked ham and Swiss beneath bechamel; Croque Madame adds an egg. For something sweet, the choices move from sugar and butter or lemon curd to more elaborate combinations. La Normande uses baked apples, cinnamon and caramel, while other crepes pair chocolate spread with bananas, strawberries or pears. Coffee includes espresso, cappuccino and latte, with almond and oat milk available. The range suits companions who want different kinds of meals: one can choose a quiche or savory crepe while another opts for a croissant, omelette or sweet crepe. It is a French family kitchen with enough variety to build a visit around either savory cooking or a sweet treat.

Calle Consistorio, 16, Plaza de la Yerba, 11403 Jerez de la Frontera
La Cruz Blanca occupies a traditional Jerez house beside Plaza de la Yerba, with indoor dining rooms and a spacious terrace. Its Calle Consistorio address makes it a natural stop during a visit to the historic centre. The restaurant combines familiar Andalusian cooking with more contemporary tapas, allowing a meal to stay focused on regional flavours without requiring everyone at the table to order in the same way. The menu moves from small plates to fuller courses. Sherry vinegar appears with clams, Oloroso flavours beef meatballs, and local berza offers a hearty contrast to the fish and shellfish dishes. Garlic prawns, fried squid and seafood paella provide clear choices for guests drawn to the coast's cooking. A selection of cured cheeses and Iberian ham suits a shared opening to the meal. The surroundings and the menu give this restaurant two useful roles: a place for a relaxed series of tapas, or a longer lunch with individual main courses. Jerez wines are prominent in the cellar, offering an opportunity to explore pairings alongside ingredients and sauces that already reflect the region. Reservations are available through the restaurant's own website or telephone. Guests bringing a dog should request an outdoor high table and mention their pet when booking, following the restaurant's stated terrace policy. Confirm the current service times and any dietary requirements directly before visiting.

Horní Česká 35, 669 02 Znojmo
Mon–Fri 08:00–22:00; Sat 09:00–23:00; Sun 10:00–23:00
La Familia Café on Horní Česká combines a cafe and an in-house pastry kitchen with a substantial restaurant menu. Its rooms have a retro character, and the central address makes it an easy place to build into a walk around Znojmo. Coffee and a slice of cake are only one way to use it: the menu also moves between Czech dishes, Italian pasta and risotto. Breakfast choices include eggs with bacon and beans, sweet croissant toast and a serving of homemade cake with cappuccino. For a more substantial meal, there is svíčková with bread dumplings, roast pork with cabbage, or schnitzel. Mushroom kulajda with a poached egg offers another recognizably Czech choice. Pasta ranges from garlic and chili spaghetti to cannelloni filled with spinach and ricotta. The pastry kitchen makes cakes and individual sweets, including French macarons and American cheesecake, and accepts custom orders. This range suits a group whose members want different things from the same stop: one person can concentrate on coffee and dessert while another chooses a complete meal. The tourism listing also identifies the venue as a place where birthdays, small weddings and seminars can be arranged by agreement. That makes it worth contacting directly if your visit involves a gathering. Rather than treating it only as a cake shop, think of it as a flexible cafe restaurant with a particularly strong sweet side.

140 chemin de la Plage, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer
La Gorguette is the beach-level restaurant at Hostellerie La Farandole, on Chemin de la Plage in Sanary-sur-Mer. The hotel stands beside the sandy Gorguette beach, facing the Bay of Bandol. Here, the restaurant's setting brings the meal close to the sea, with the coast forming the backdrop to a kitchen focused on fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Regional flavors guide the cooking, and the wine selection offers a way to explore both Provençal vineyards and the wider French wine tradition. The dining room has a sophisticated atmosphere within a contemporary seaside hotel. La Gorguette forms part of the property's seasonal restaurant arrangement, taking over in winter from the rooftop Panoramic. Guests choosing this address therefore encounter the beach-level setting rather than the roof terrace associated with the summer restaurant. The hotel also houses a bar serving hot drinks and refreshments, providing another place to gather around a restaurant visit. Contemporary artworks, exhibitions and sculpture contribute to the character of the wider property. Tables can be reserved directly, and the team also arranges catering for professional gatherings, including menus and cocktail receptions. Outdoor and underground parking are available on the premises, together with electric vehicle charging points. The combination of a coastal location and a regional approach to ingredients gives La Gorguette its identity. It offers a restaurant visit within a hotel designed around the beach, the bay and the surrounding Provençal landscape.
Santa Cruz de La Palma · Spanish · Fish and seafood · Takes reservations
Avenida Marítima 51, 38700 Santa Cruz de La Palma
La Isla de Goya combines family roots in Aragón with the ingredients and food traditions of La Palma. Established in May 2015, it stands on Avenida Marítima in Santa Cruz de La Palma, close to the city's distinctive balconies. The approach is informal, with tapas and larger sharing portions that let a table explore several dishes together. Its identity comes from that meeting of mainland and island cooking rather than from a single specialty. Migas Aragonesas bring the shepherding tradition of bread and chorizo to the menu, while grilled island cheese and wrinkled potatoes with mojo give the selection a Canarian accent. Small plates include padrón peppers, shrimp fritters and piquillo peppers filled with marinated tuna. There are cheese and Iberian ham boards, alongside a substantial range of topped toasts. One combines aubergine, courgette, tomato and grilled smoked Palmero cheese with hazelnut and basil pesto; another pairs local fresh cheese and grilled vegetables with smoked salmon and toasted almonds. Seafood continues through the casserole and sharing sections, with clams, mussels, prawns and small fried fish. Meatballs with mushrooms, cuttlefish and prawns bring land and sea together in one dish. Vegetable choices include a grilled vegetable platter and a warm salad with curry vegetables and chia seeds. Eggs appear in several combinations with potatoes, vegetables, ham or chorizo. A separate children's menu offers smaller, straightforward meals. The restaurant encourages guests to ask for recommendations, and its menu is available in Spanish, English and German. It is a useful address for companions who enjoy ordering collectively and comparing different regional flavors.

Strada Branului 36 Bis, 505801 Tohanu Nou
La Lupi Restaurant & Pizzeria is part of the La Lupi complex on Strada Branului, in the Tohanu Nou approach to Bran. The restaurant has an indoor dining room and a larger summer terrace, giving families and groups a choice of settings when the weather allows. Its location is separate from the group's accommodation farther away in Moeciu. Pizza is a main part of the restaurant's identity, with a house dough and a selection of toppings. The broader menu adds Romanian dishes, pasta, fish and meat, so not everyone at the table needs to order pizza. Published choices include traditional bulz with egg and smoked sausage, shrimp spaghetti, pork dishes and soups. A children's play area sits beside the terrace, allowing accompanying adults to keep it in view. The wider complex also has bowling and event facilities, but these are separate activities rather than benefits included automatically with a meal. Ask the team about availability and any booking requirements if you want to combine dinner with an activity. La Lupi also operates a separate food-delivery website for Bran and surrounding villages. Coverage, minimum order and delivery charges depend on the address, so check those details before placing an order from your accommodation. For eating in, use the restaurant's direct telephone number rather than the general accommodation contact. Confirm current kitchen times and terrace service, especially outside summer or when traveling with a larger group.
Mijas · Pizza · Mexican · Burgers
Calle Murillo s/n, 29649 Mijas
Tue 20:00–24:00; Wed–Sun 13:00–17:00, 20:00–24:00; Mon Closed
La Mejicana has been cooking in Las Lagunas since 1989, which makes it one of the long standing names of Mijas Costa. It sits on Calle Murillo beside the María Zambrano park, in the residential heart of Las Lagunas, and its motto, Para tu gusto, lo mejor, roughly 'for your taste, only the best', sums up how the owners describe their approach: they make everything themselves, starting with the buying of the produce, and cook every day from what they call original South American recipes. The menu mixes two worlds. On one side there are pizzas, from a margherita and a four cheese to a Mexican with spiced minced meat, a Colombian with chicken in hot sauce, a Moorish with spiced mince, onion and black olives, and a Nordic with salmon and capers. On the other side there are Tex Mex plates: hard or soft tacos, including tacos al pastor with pulled pork and pickled onion, nachos with guacamole and hot sauce, burritos served with rice and salad, chicken fajitas and quesadillas. Pasta, salads, burgers, finger food and desserts complete the list, and vegetable versions of most dishes are marked. What sets the house apart is its gluten free cooking: it runs a completely separate kitchen so that people with coeliac disease can choose from a wide menu, and there are lactose free options as well. Food can be eaten on the spot or collected to take away, which suits a relaxed evening back at the holiday home. A second branch operates in Alhaurín de la Torre; the Las Lagunas house is the original.

La Palta stands in Bilegno, a hamlet so small that the restaurant describes itself as a hidden gem behind uneven walls — set among gentle hills, kitchen gardens and old houses in the province of Piacenza. The building gives nothing away from the road, which is part of how the place presents itself. The cooking is ambitious rather than rustic, and the house says so in its own words: the eyes come before the nose and the palate. Unexpected combinations are the method. Two dishes stand for the range — tortelli con la coda, the tailed parcels that are the signature pasta of Piacenza and are folded here in the traditional way, and black ravioli served in an exotic broth that belongs to no local tradition at all. The kitchen is run by a female chef, and the house describes eating here as travelling between the smells of home and inspirations from far away. Gift vouchers for a lunch or dinner are sold through the restaurant's own site. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, lunch from half past twelve to half past two and dinner from eight to ten. On Sunday there is lunch only, and Monday it is closed. Booking is advisable: the room is small and the restaurant draws people from well beyond the province. You will find La Palta at Frazione Bilegno 67, 29011 Bilegno, Piacenza.

Mon–Sun 9:00–24:00
La Parisienne is the Gambian bakery-café that has been baking in the French way since 1993, and this is its Bijilo branch at the Brusubi turntable, a few minutes from the Senegambia strip and the Bijilo beach hotels. The counter holds croissants, pains au chocolat, tarts and celebration cakes; the kitchen behind it serves breakfast, sandwiches, shawarma, pizzas and a menu of everyday meals through the day, with proper coffee and fresh juices. The room is fully air-conditioned, which on a hot afternoon is half the point, and there are tables outside for the cooler hours. It opens in the morning and stays open late, so it works as much for a first coffee as for a late dessert after a beach day.
Palm Coast · Italian · Steak and grill · Fish and seafood
101 Palm Harbor Pkwy, Palm Coast, 32137
La Piazza Cafe brings family Italian cooking to European Village in Palm Coast. Diane Colabella-Lass and the Lass family previously ran restaurants in New Jersey before moving to Florida, drawing on recipes and traditions learned from their grandmothers. Their approach combines that background with a kitchen that prepares fish and steaks in house and makes sauces to order. The dining experience can unfold inside, among dressed tables and fresh flowers, or outside beneath illuminated grape trellises. Outdoor heaters and a fireplace add to the setting. The menu ranges from familiar Italian American dishes to substantial meat and seafood preparations. Starters include fried calamari, baked clams with seasoned breadcrumbs, tomato bruschetta on focaccia, and eggplant rollatini filled with cheese. Pasta choices include carbonara with pancetta, rigatoni in vodka sauce, linguine with clams, and shrimp in lemon, butter and white wine. Chicken and veal appear in Marsala, piccata and parmigiana preparations, while grilled New York strip and filet mignon broaden the choice beyond pasta. Gluten-free pasta is available, and selected dishes can be adapted. Wine is another part of the restaurant's identity, with pairing dinners bringing bottles and food together. For celebrations, a separate banquet room accommodates up to fifty guests, with connected spaces available for larger gatherings. Menus for private occasions can be arranged as individual courses, family-style service or buffets. Whether choosing a pasta supper for two or planning a family occasion, guests have several ways to shape a meal around the same Italian kitchen.
Celerina · Italian · Pizza · Mediterranean
Via Maistra 76, 7505 Celerina
Mon–Sun 11:00–21:00
La Piruetta combines an Italian restaurant, pizzeria and bar with the relaxed surroundings of Celerina's Center da Sport. Opened in 2001, it is built around an informal atmosphere where a meal can fit naturally into time spent outdoors. The large veranda looks toward the Engadine mountains, while the neighboring sports facilities give the setting a different character as the seasons change. Skating and curling belong to winter; tennis and the playground shape the warmer months. Italian cooking anchors the menu, with Mediterranean influences, Valtellina specialities and game adding variety. Homemade pasta includes pizzoccheri with cheese, potatoes, cabbage, butter and sage, as well as ricotta and spinach ravioli. Other choices range from mushroom tagliatelle to spicy penne, alongside salads, meat and fish dishes. The pizza selection includes familiar combinations and a Valtellinese version with bresaola and porcini mushrooms. There are also flame pies, including one with gorgonzola and walnuts. Desserts and ice cream are made in house. Walnut cake, apple strudel and chocolate cake sit alongside ice cream cups and affogato, making the restaurant an option for something sweet as well as a full meal. Families are explicitly welcomed, with outdoor activities close enough for parents to watch their children from the terrace. Dogs are welcome both inside and outside. Takeaway includes pizza, ice cream and the restaurant menu, and tables can be reserved ahead for busier periods.

Passeggiata Baracca 25, 17021 Alassio
La Prua has welcomed diners to Alassio's seafront since 1978. On Passeggiata Baracca, the restaurant combines three indoor dining rooms with a veranda overlooking the beach. In summer, tables can extend directly onto the sand; in cooler weather, the sheltered spaces keep the sea close to the meal. It is a setting suited to a leisurely lunch, a dinner for two or a celebration arranged with the restaurant. The kitchen draws on Ligurian and Mediterranean cooking while giving individual dishes a contemporary direction. Raw seafood selections follow the day's availability, with prawns, langoustines, oysters and fish prepared to order. Roast octopus comes with anchovy-flavoured crushed potato, tomato and Taggiasca olive, while a courgette flan with Raschera cheese offers a vegetable-based starter. Pasta and rice choices include traditional trofie, seafood spaghetti to share, and Carnaroli rice with trombetta courgette, langoustine and smoked burrata. The day's Ligurian fish can be grilled, baked in salt or prepared in the local style. Other dishes include sesame-crusted tuna, sea bass with basil and grilled Fassona beef with seasonal vegetables, giving companions different ways to build a meal. The wine selection includes regional bottles as well as wines from elsewhere in Italy. Desserts range from an espresso tiramisù to lemon-and-basil ice cream with Ligurian stroscia and strawberry compote. Reserve ahead if you would like a particular seaside setting, and check which outdoor tables and fish specialities are available for your visit.
Novigrad · Steak and grill · Fish and seafood · Seating outdoors
Rivarela ul. 21, 52466 Novigrad
Mon–Sun 11:00–22:30
La Rivarella is a family restaurant on Novigrad's Rivarela waterfront, with a terrace directly beside the sea. Established in 2023, it brings together the work of a chef and his parents. His route home included kitchens at the Dolder Grand in Zürich, Grand Tirolia in Kitzbühel, and Vienna's Plachutta and Figlmüller. That background informs a restaurant centred on personal hospitality, Adriatic ingredients and carefully assembled plates. Fish and homemade pasta are prominent, with several dishes showing how the kitchen combines familiar ingredients with a more elaborate presentation. Pearl of the Adriatic pairs scampi with a crisp cuttlefish ink base, herb oil and foam. Lobster tagliatelle comes with tomato sauce, basil, claws and tail, and is presented as a dish to share. The house surf and turf brings steak and scampi together with mushroom, roasted cherry tomato, mashed potato and a dark jus. There are simpler ways to begin, too. The starters include Istrian prosciutto, a selection of cheeses, beef tartare, vitello tonnato and sea bass carpaccio. The wider menu follows the catch and the season, while the family's cooking also draws on Istrian truffles and olive oil from neighbouring producers. Children's portions are available across the menu, making the restaurant practical for a family table as well as a meal for two. Reservations are taken over WhatsApp. The waterfront terrace is the defining setting: a place to settle into a shared meal with the sea immediately alongside.

55 quai des Mariniers, 49350 Gennes-Val-de-Loire
Mon–Sun 12:00–14:30, 19:00–21:00
La Route du Sel occupies a traditional tuffeau house beside the Loire in Le Thoureil, between Angers and Saumur. Built in 1851, the riverside building belongs to the landscape of the old village, and the restaurant's name recalls the transport of salt along the river from Nantes towards central France. The business is presented as a family restaurant with roots in the region across five generations. Its terrace and garden look over the Loire, while an indoor dining room provides a more sheltered setting. The kitchen's focus is fresh produce from local suppliers, with vegetables changing through the seasons and homemade pasta accompanying some dishes. River fish have a particular place here: eel, pike and pike perch appear among the specialities. The cooking also extends to nearby poultry and meat producers, with natural and regional wines alongside the food. Marie Monmousseau leads the kitchen, while pastry chef Laurent Mercier contributes desserts throughout the year. The pastry selection gives the meal its own final chapter, from a local crémet to fruit tarts and chocolate preparations. Together, the cooking and setting make this a place to explore the Loire through both the plate and the view. A table can be requested directly by telephone. The choice between dining inside and sitting beside the river gives the restaurant two distinct settings within the same house.
Chamousset · French · Fish and seafood · Lunch
40 impasse de la Gare, 73390 Chamousset
La Table d'Auré is the restaurant of a hotel in Chamousset, at the meeting of the Tarentaise, Maurienne and Val Gelon valleys. Mallory and Aurélien Moutard run the house, bringing their hospitality backgrounds to a kitchen centered on food prepared in house from fresh ingredients. They work with local producers and choose products according to the season. The setting includes three restaurant rooms and a terrace beside a park of about four thousand square meters. The tourism office describes the grounds as bordered by a small river, giving the address a quieter outdoor dimension. The published menu shows a substantial French repertoire. Starters include game pie with Périgord sauce, eggs in red wine sauce and foie gras with Espelette pepper. Fish choices include Lake Geneva perch prepared meunière and a market fish dish with vegetables. Among the meat dishes are slowly cooked black pork from Pralognan, game stewed with Mondeuse wine, and veal kidneys with Madeira sauce. Larger dishes for sharing include lamb shoulder and beef, while cheese and desserts provide several ways to finish. Tarte Tatin, chocolate cake and roasted figs with blueberries appear among the sweet options. Wine is an important part of the house, with more than a hundred references from across France, a substantial Savoy selection and a choice of Chartreuse. The restaurant also accommodates business meals and groups, with a seminar room equipped for presentations. Its combination of seasonal cooking, several dining spaces and garden surroundings makes it a practical address for both individual meals and planned gatherings.
Bastia · Mediterranean · Fish and seafood · Vegetarian
3 bis rue des Turquines, 20200 Bastia
La Table des Gouverneurs is the restaurant of Hôtel des Gouverneurs in Bastia’s citadel, overlooking the Old Port and the Mediterranean. It welcomes visitors as well as hotel residents. A panoramic terrace brings the harbor into view, while the interior combines contemporary furnishings with traditional touches. In cooler weather, the lounge with its fireplace offers another setting for a meal. The kitchen centers on homemade cooking, seasonal produce and ingredients selected from Corsican suppliers, with Mediterranean influences running through the dishes. The menu gives those local connections tangible form. Crostini use organic bread from A Pagnotta in Bastia, paired with dried tomato, basil and burratina. Fresh cheese fritters feature cheese from A Tinella in Lucciana, while a charcuterie selection brings together sausage, coppa, lonzu and ham. Seafood choices include sea bass with grilled vegetables and octopus paired with Iberian chorizo and chickpea piperade. Lamb is accompanied by pea hummus and mint, and the seasonal risotto can be prepared in a vegetarian version. Desserts range from a chocolate creation to an apricot tartlet with rosemary, black sesame and meringue. Another option combines vanilla ice cream, canistrelli, almonds, coffee and whipped cream. Corsican cheeses with fig jam provide a savory finish. The wine list includes bottles from Corsica and mainland France, while the hotel bar develops cocktails around fresh ingredients and spirits from small distilleries. A separate children’s menu offers breaded chicken with potatoes followed by ice cream. Reservations are available online or by telephone.

Mon–Fri 11:00–15:00, 19:00–23:30; Sat–Sun 11:00–15:00, 19:00–24:00
La Vela sits inside the Marina di Villasimius, the tourist port on Via degli Oleandri, with a terrace that looks straight over the moored sailboats and, in the evening, the sunset behind the harbor. Inside there is a climate-controlled dining room for hot afternoons or windy nights. The menu has two halves. One is fish: the kitchen buys daily from local markets and fishermen along the south Sardinian coast, so the board changes with what came in, typically tuna, sea bream, squid, mussels, shellfish and crustaceans, served raw, grilled or fried, with homemade pasta such as fregola with seafood and spaghetti allo scoglio. The other half is pizza from a wood-fired oven, made with Italian flours and a long-fermented dough. Olive oil, cheeses and wines come from Sardinian producers; for dessert there are seadas and tiramisu, and a slow-cooked suckling pig in cannonau reduction covers the meat side. The restaurant opens every day for lunch from 11:00 to 15:00 and for dinner from 19:00, closing at 23:30 on weekdays and midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Tables can be booked online through the link on its website or by phone at +39 392 8780232, and in July and August the terrace seats are the first to go. Getting there from a rental in the town center is about 3 km on foot; most families drive, and in summer a shuttle runs between the port, the town and the main beaches every twenty minutes or so. There is free parking at the marina, and the beach at Porto Giunco, with its shallow water for small children, is close to the port. Because it is a pizzeria as well as a fish restaurant, a mixed group with picky eaters is easy to seat.

Am See 1, 24791 Alt Duvenstedt
LammButtRind is the restaurant at Seehotel Töpferhaus, beside the Bistensee in Alt Duvenstedt. Its Nordic cooking takes its starting point from the surrounding fields, woods, hedgerows and coast. The kitchen bakes its own bread, makes stocks, pickles and ferments ingredients, and changes the main menu with the seasons. Lamb, flatfish and beef provide the restaurant's name and remain recurring themes, with their accompaniments changing through the year. On the autumn menu, lamb comes with lentils, pumpkin and labneh, plaice with beans, pear and bacon, and braised ox cheek with potato and celery mash. Vegetables receive equally detailed treatment: semolina dumplings with chanterelles and a savoy cabbage roll filled with spelt, apple and pumpkin are among the meatless main courses. Desserts draw on familiar northern ingredients, including a layered apple and dark bread pudding. Inside, two dining wings use wood, natural colors and candlelit tables, with some seats looking toward the water. Six small heated glass houses on the lake terrace offer a separate setting for up to four guests each. A fireplace in the lobby provides another place for a drink before or after eating. Sous chef Marta selects the wines, including bottles from the Douro vineyard she owns with her sisters. Children have a small menu and high chairs. Vegan meals and allergies can be discussed when reserving. Larger parties can arrange a private room, and guests bringing a dog should mention it when booking.

Heilhauser Mühle 1, 54649 Manderscheid
The Heilhauser Mühle is a converted historic mill on the L12 between Lünebach and Waxweiler, down in the Prüm valley where the road runs between trees and water. The family has run it as a Landgasthof for more than thirty years and is now in its third generation; a small campground sits on the same grounds. Inside there are several distinct rooms: the snug Mühlenstube, a sunny winter garden, a fireplace room and a rustic barn whose glass floor looks straight down onto the old, illuminated mill wheel. Outside, a beer garden and a terrace face the mill pond, and the house recommends them as the stop after a walk. The cooking is regional country fare, running from schnitzel to rump steak, with game specialities, fish, vegetarian options and children's dishes, plus seasonal recommendations that change with what is available. Examples the house names are the 'Eifelliebe' salad with curry dressing, chicken and fresh fruit, the 'Mühlenknacker', a stuffed pancake filled with minced meat and cheese, and at weekends fresh salmon in wine sauce with rice and salad from the buffet. The mill lies directly on the Prümtal hiking trail, the Prümtal cycle path and the Panoramaweg 100, so hikers and cyclists arrive on foot or by bike and families come for a long Sunday lunch. Family celebrations, walking groups and company outings can book a set menu or a rustic buffet, and groups can be received outside the regular hours by arrangement. The house closes for a winter break each year and reopens in spring.

Katschberg-Bundesstraße 98, 5582 St. Michael im Lungau
Landgasthof Hubertusstubn is the Planitzer family’s country inn on Katschberg-Bundesstraße in St. Michael im Lungau. Its restaurant concentrates on traditional Lungau cooking, with regional home style dishes, local specialties and lighter choices sharing an extensive menu. Fresh preparation is central to the kitchen’s approach, and cooking remains a family responsibility: Linde Planitzer is the cook, supporting her daughter Petra alongside Hans Planitzer. The family presents the inn as the work of three generations, with Petra’s partner Hans and daughters Laura and Nina also part of the household. There are three separate dining rooms, giving the restaurant the character of a traditional inn with several smaller places to gather. A sun terrace provides an outdoor alternative for eating in suitable weather. The property also has a children’s playground, making it relevant for families choosing somewhere to stop for a meal. Accommodation forms another part of the business, with rooms, holiday flats and apartments alongside the restaurant. The hosts offer personal suggestions for excursions and sporting activities in the Lungau, connecting the house with the surrounding holiday region. Its position near the B99 approach is described in the inn’s own directions, which guide arrivals from St. Michael, Mauterndorf and the Mur valley. For a visit focused on food, the main attractions are the family kitchen, the choice between three indoor rooms and the terrace, and a menu that keeps local cooking alongside lighter dishes.

Landgut Blasiwirt stands in Fell, outside the center of St. Michael im Lungau, where the Mayr family combines a country inn with farming. Hannes, Karin and Lisl host a small property whose food draws heavily on its own production and suppliers from the surrounding region. Its Salzburg organic breakfast is explicitly available to day visitors who register in advance. The buffet brings together homemade bread and pastries, butter from a local organic farmer, dairy products from the Minimolk in Tamsweg and cheeses from Lungau producers. Homemade jams, apple juice from the property’s own trees, elderflower juice and herb quark spread add details that distinguish the breakfast from a standard hotel spread. Smoked pork, beef and game sit alongside other regional meats, while yogurt, muesli and eggs offer further choices. The kitchen also describes an evening menu of salad buffet, soup, a main course and dessert, with a vegetarian main available. Other specialties include regional organic lamb, veal and Angus beef, fresh trout, game and fondue. Guests with allergies or particular dietary requirements are asked to explain them in advance. The family’s connection with the property began in 1901; the present inn was built in 1973, and Hannes Mayr took over in 2004. Farming remains part of the operation, linking the dining offer to the wider estate. For visitors staying elsewhere, the bookable organic breakfast is the clearest way to experience that connection between the family, local producers and the table.

Votsi 6, 8010 Paphos
Laona is a family restaurant on Votsi Street, in a quiet lane off Makarios Avenue in Paphos Old Town. Chris, Koulla and Andreas run a house that has welcomed guests since 1986. Its cooking follows recipes passed down through the family, using local meat, vegetables and Cypriot herbs. Although the premises have been renovated, the kitchen remains centred on familiar regional dishes and the changing produce of the seasons. A blackboard carries the day's selection, and Andreas and the team explain the dishes, their ingredients and the methods used to cook them. This gives the meal a personal introduction before anything arrives at the table. The repertoire includes rabbit stifado, lamb with peas, pork marinated in wine and coriander, stuffed vegetables and moussaka. Oven dishes are particularly prominent: fish, large meatballs and beef casserole appear alongside chicken cooked with lemon and wine. Other choices include pork chop with brandy sauce and fried lamb's liver. Vegetarian dishes have their own place in the selection, with the available options explained by the staff. Salads accompany many meals, while homemade cake and traditional Cyprus coffee provide a familiar finish. The seasonal blackboard means that choosing here is part of the experience rather than a matter of expecting an identical list on every visit. Between the family involvement, the old town setting and the emphasis on slowly prepared dishes, Laona offers a straightforward introduction to the everyday cooking traditions of Cyprus.

Las Olas is a fish restaurant on the Carrer de Ramon de Montcada, on the Costa de la Calma side of Santa Ponsa. Its own line for what it does is four words long and says everything: from the sea to the plate. The house publishes its menu as a document in four languages — Spanish, English, German and French — which is unusual and useful. It means you can read what is being served before you sit down rather than working it out from a board, and seven pages of it suggests a kitchen with more than a resort card. One thing to plan around: it is closed on Mondays. The rest of the week it opens at half past twelve and runs through to midnight without a break, which covers a late lunch, an early dinner and a late one at the same address. Tables are booked through the restaurant's own link page. Costa de la Calma adjoins Santa Ponsa to the west and is the quieter half of the same stretch of coast — residential rather than resort, a few minutes' walk from the beach and away from the main avenue. The name means calm coast and it is not marketing: the bay here is sheltered from the tramuntana, the north wind that closes the beaches on the other side of the island, which is why this corner of Mallorca fills up first in spring and empties last in autumn. You will find Las Olas at Carrer de Ramon de Montcada 18, 07180 Costa de la Calma.

Laynes is a coffee house on New Station Street, immediately outside Leeds railway station, and it opened in 2011 into a city that had almost nothing of the kind. Fifteen years later it is the address people give when asked where the coffee is, and the restaurant is direct about what it set out to do: give Leeds a place that paid absolute attention to the quality of two ingredients, coffee and possibly milk, in a room where somebody would explain them. It has grown past that. There is a kitchen now, and the house claims some of the best breakfast and lunch in the city centre — a claim it can make because most of its competition is a chain. There is a Laynes bakery, and beans are sold through an online shop for anyone who wants to take the coffee home. Opening is early and long: half past seven in the morning to seven at night on weekdays, from eight on Saturday, and a shorter Sunday from nine to four. Tables can be booked, which for a coffee shop is unusual and says something about how busy it gets. New Station Street runs from the station entrance into the city, so this is the first door you pass arriving in Leeds by train and the last one leaving. You will find Laynes at 16 New Station Street, Leeds LS1 5DL.

210 bis esplanade Frédéric Dumas, 83110 Sanary-sur-Mer
Le Bard'Ô overlooks Portissol beach from the edge of the bay in Sanary-sur-Mer. Its terrace faces the Mediterranean, while an indoor dining room provides another setting for a meal by the water. Andrew and his team combine restaurant dining with a bar and a program of live performances and visiting DJs. The atmosphere can therefore move from a relaxed seaside meal toward a more festive gathering. The menu travels between Mediterranean ingredients and flavors from farther afield. Sea bream carpaccio is paired with green apple, ginger and citrus, while tuna tataki comes with aromatic rice and an Asian salad. There are also clam linguine, mushroom risotto and truffle ravioli. Meat dishes include beef with herb butter, lamb shank with mashed potato and a veal chop with mushroom sauce. For sharing, guests can choose small dishes or boards of cured meats and cheeses. Desserts range from chocolate mousse to an exotic tiramisu involving lemon, coconut and passion fruit, with ice cream sundaes providing another finish. A separate children's menu is available. The terrace is also used for private gatherings, and the restaurant can prepare customized menus for birthdays, weddings, baptisms or business events. With space both inside and outdoors, it accommodates occasions larger than an ordinary table booking. The defining combination is the broad menu, sea-facing position and music program, bringing several kinds of outing together at the same beachside address.

Le Bifana is a Franco-Portuguese bar and restaurant on Avenue de l'Angoumois in Montmoreau. Food is part of a sociable setting that also includes billiards, darts, sports screenings and music. It is a choice for a meal with some bar atmosphere, particularly when a weekend event is taking place. Portuguese-style cod is one of the house specialities, with a cod dish normally offered at weekends. Tapas plates and burgers with homemade chips provide other options. For a shared meal, ask about the Chapeau Grill: pieces of meat cook on spikes around a hat-shaped grill, while vegetables below catch the cooking juices. This particular dish requires advance reservation, so it is something to arrange rather than assume will be available on arrival. The restaurant has two air-conditioned rooms and approximately 40 covers. Billiards tournaments are advertised for Saturdays, and the team can arrange events or lively weekend evenings. If you would prefer a quieter meal, telephone to check the programme before choosing your time. The municipality also lists takeaway service, useful when you want dinner back at your accommodation. Dogs are welcome and card payments are accepted. Published opening hours distinguish morning and lunchtime opening from evening sessions, with a shorter Monday. Confirm kitchen times directly rather than treating all bar opening hours as meal service. The phone number and email provide direct ways to reserve the grill, ask about the weekend cod dish or check arrangements for your party.

47 Rue Brescou, 34300 Agde
Tue–Sat 12:00–14:00, 19:30–22:00
Le Bistro d'Hervé is a small restaurant at 47 Rue Brescou, in the center of Agde's old town a few streets from the Hérault quays. Hervé Dos Santos cooks and Sabine Dos Santos runs the room. The kitchen calls its style creative and refined, built on seasonal produce with the flavors of the South, and is equally fond of "plats canailles", hearty bistro dishes done with care. Recent cards have carried a red tuna tataki with ratatouille, scallops on a Jerusalem artichoke velouté and meagre from the plancha with saffron risotto, next to standards such as eggs en meurette, beef tartare and rum baba. The wines stay in the Languedoc. The house holds the Maître Restaurateur title, which certifies cooking from raw ingredients on the premises, and is listed in the Michelin and Gault&Millau guides. The room is contemporary and air-conditioned, with a small terrace under shade sails and a covered one for hot July evenings. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 2 pm and 7:30 to 10 pm; Sunday and Monday are closed, and the restaurant works year-round apart from a break around Christmas and New Year. Tables go quickly in summer, so call +33 4 67 62 30 69 or write to bistroherve@gmail.com a day or two ahead. Groups of up to 40 can be seated with notice. For a family in a vacation rental nearby: there is a children's menu, dogs are accepted, and the premises carry the Tourisme & Handicap label, with step-free tables and adapted restrooms. A public parking lot lies about 100 meters away by the cinema; the train station is a 13-minute walk. From Cap d'Agde or Le Grau-d'Agde count a quarter of an hour by car for an evening away from the beachfront grills.

14 Avenue de l’Angoumois, 16190 Montmoreau
Le Bistroquet is Catherine and Thierry Laporte's restaurant on Avenue de l'Angoumois in Montmoreau. Its cooking follows the market and local produce, with homemade dishes served in a bistro setting. The town's restaurant guide also highlights a lunchtime dish of the day and wine by the glass, making it an option for lunch as well as a more leisurely evening meal. The kitchen's own illustrated dishes give an idea of its range. Examples include Limousin beef carpaccio, tuna cooked on the plancha with sauce vierge, truffle tagliatelle and a red-fruit pavlova. These are examples of the restaurant's changing cooking, rather than a fixed menu to expect on every visit. Consult the current menu if you are choosing the restaurant for a particular dish. In summer, the shaded terrace and lounge sit beneath four mulberry trees. Inside, the main restaurant has around 40 covers, while a separate room can accommodate a private party of 12 to 15. The smaller room is useful for a family gathering when arranged with the owners beforehand. Parking is available at the rear on Place de la Tude, with access to the terrace from that side. The restaurant offers accessible facilities and accepts card payments. Lunch and dinner have separate service windows; Sunday is lunch only and Monday is the closing day. Book directly, especially for the private room or a terrace table, and ask about takeaway arrangements if you plan to eat elsewhere.

3 boulevard de la Résistance, 62100 Calais
Le Channel is the Crespo family's restaurant on boulevard de la Résistance in Calais Nord, opposite the marina and close to Place d'Armes. It is a separate address from the cultural venue that shares its name elsewhere in the city. Here, the family brings together French cooking and an extensive interest in wine, with the dining room designed to make both part of the experience. José, Monique, Arnaud and Jérôme Crespo are named in the house's account of its family tradition. The brothers' kitchen experience includes work at the Montalembert and with Joël Robuchon, and the restaurant describes its cooking as a meeting of classical foundations and new ideas. A renovation placed the kitchen prominently opposite the entrance, equipped with induction cooking, a charcoal oven and a plancha. Those different methods give the cooks several ways to develop a dish rather than relying on a single signature technique. Wine is woven into the room itself. A glass panel near the entrance offers a glimpse into the cellar, while a wine library in the small lounge extends the theme above ground. The house lists more than twelve hundred wine references and also describes an exhibition room used for discovering and tasting wines. This makes the restaurant especially interesting for diners who want to give the wine selection as much thought as the food. Its marina setting adds a connection to Calais without making the meal dependent on a beach visit. Reservations are encouraged, and the restaurant provides a telephone contact for arranging a table directly.

At Le Charme de la Semois, a father-and-son kitchen gives regional recipes its own interpretation. The restaurant is part of the hotel of the same name on Rue Liboichant in Alle-sur-Semois, and its seasonal approach makes it an option for a planned lunch or evening meal in the valley. Lobster is one of the specialities highlighted by the house, while a separate children's menu gives families another way to choose their meal. The dining experience extends beyond the kitchen. Owner Jane welcomes guests and offers advice, and the bar includes Orval among its beers. French, Dutch and English are spoken. Anyone with an allergy, or anyone seeking a vegetarian meal, should mention it when reserving so the restaurant can explain the available options rather than leaving the discussion until dishes arrive. There is also a breakfast option for visitors who are not staying at the hotel, but it must be booked the previous day. The buffet described by the restaurant includes pastries, bread, cheeses, smoked salmon, eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice. It provides a distinct alternative to returning for a full lunch or dinner, particularly if you prefer to organise a morning stop. The published lunch and dinner windows are 11:30–13:30 and 18:30–20:30. Use the hotel's direct telephone or email details to check your chosen date, reserve breakfast where required, and confirm any dietary arrangements. The address is 12 Rue Liboichant, Alle-sur-Semois.

Le Comptoir de Bernard is a small restaurant and brasserie in Orchimont, with cooking rooted in the surrounding Ardennes. Bernard works with local producers and artisans, and the restaurant describes direct, short supply chains as central to its approach. The scale is intimate: the dining page lists ten places inside and sixteen outside, with a terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside in summer. Its food changes with the time of day. Breakfast brings together bread, pastries, cheese and cold meats, while the brunch adds items such as smoked salmon and omelette. At lunchtime, the published choices include soup, sandwiches, a croque-monsieur, omelettes and a dish of the day. Homemade dessert and ice cream also appear on the menu, making a shorter food stop possible without committing to an evening menu. Dinner follows a different rhythm. A three-course meal is offered by reservation, with the ingredients changing through the seasons. The restaurant gives asparagus in spring, lamb around Easter and festive-season game as examples of that approach. Ask what is planned for your date rather than treating those examples as year-round dishes. The brasserie is also a place to explore Belgian drinks, including regional and Trappist beers, fruit juices and homemade hot chocolate. Published daytime opening is Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30–18:00, with evening visits arranged in advance. The address is 64 Rue du Château in Orchimont; telephone Bernard directly or use the restaurant email to reserve.
