L'Hort

Masia Hort de Fortunyo, Partida Calcines s/n, 43597 Arnes

+34602569626

L'Hort is the restaurant of Hort de Fortunyo, a stone farmhouse hotel outside Arnes, among olive trees near Els Ports. Paula C. Loureiro and Manuel Francés bring experience from different countries and kitchens to a menu rooted in Terra Alta. Local produce and vegetables from the property's garden provide the foundation, while the recipes also make room for flavours learned further afield. The published menu shows how that approach works. A vegetable quiche sits alongside wild-croaker ceviche with sweet potato, fried squid with lime allioli and tuna with passion fruit. The meat section gives particular attention to lamb from Els Ports, while pork ribs are glazed with honey from Arnes. These are examples of the kitchen's repertoire; the season and available produce determine what is offered when you visit. Rice dishes and a substantial wine selection create several ways to build a meal. The listed rice preparations include rabbit with green beans, seafood rossejat and cuttlefish rice with cauliflower. A seasonal menu and a longer L'Hort menu are also advertised. Anyone with allergies or dietary requirements should discuss them when booking, particularly when choosing a set menu. The farmhouse setting and terrace make this a meal to plan into a day around Arnes or Horta de Sant Joan. Reserve directly through the restaurant's booking link and confirm the service you need. Its appeal lies in the combination of a rural setting, a productive garden and regional ingredients handled with an outward-looking approach.

Il Barrante

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Alper Tunga Danyıldız / Pexels

Via Vittorio Veneto 151, 17021 Alassio

+390182648736

Il Barrante combines a Neapolitan pizzeria with a seafood restaurant on Via Vittorio Veneto, close to Alassio's beach. Its family-oriented approach makes it useful for a table whose guests want different things from the same meal: a familiar pizza, a plate of Ligurian pasta or a more substantial fish course. Lunch, dinner and a separate late-afternoon aperitivo service provide several ways to fit a visit into a day by the sea. The pizza list begins with Margherita, Marinara and anchovy-topped Napoletana, then moves into richer combinations. Parmigiana brings fried aubergine and Parmesan to the tomato-and-mozzarella base; Mortazza combines burrata, smoked provola, mortadella and pistachio. There are also spicy salami, four-cheese and buffalo-mozzarella choices, so both a simple order and a more elaborate topping are possible. The kitchen gives equal attention to coastal dishes. Start with Ligurian octopus salad, mussels or anchovies with panissa, then consider seafood scialatielli, spaghetti with clams or trofie with homemade pesto, potatoes and green beans. Grilled fish, mixed seafood fry and pistachio-crusted tuna sit alongside beef, burgers and Ligurian-style rabbit, while a children's selection keeps simpler appetites in mind. Desserts continue the meeting of local and southern Italian influences, with an Alassio hazelnut-and-coffee speciality, classic tiramisù and Neapolitan babà among the choices. The range makes Il Barrante particularly practical for families and mixed groups. Telephone for a table and mention any dietary needs so the staff can guide you through the menu.

Alassio · Italian · Mediterranean · Fish and seafood

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue RDNE Stock project / Pexels

Vico Berno 6, 17021 Alassio

+390182640387

Osteria Mezzaluna has occupied Vico Berno since 1993, in a small lane linking Alassio's shopping streets with the sea. Candlelit interiors and outdoor tables among plants and flowers give it the atmosphere of a Mediterranean neighbourhood osteria. Acoustic live music is part of its evening identity, so dinner here can become an occasion to linger as well as a chance to explore the menu. Sharing is an easy way to begin. Boards combine cured meats and cheeses from southern Italy, while pinzimonio pairs fresh vegetables with savoury dips. Mussels can be ordered with white wine and pepper or with basil pesto, potatoes and green beans. The seafood starters also include marinated anchovies and a combination of smoked fish and tuna. Ligurian pasta has a strong presence: trofie arrive with pesto, potatoes and beans, and ricotta-and-herb pansotti are served with walnut sauce. Seafood scialatielli and fish-filled ravioli offer alternatives, while grilled tuna, swordfish and squid move the meal towards a main course. Vegetarian choices include chickpea panissa, grilled vegetables and cheeses; children have their own smaller selection. Desserts range from fruit tiramisù to homemade cakes and fruit sorbets, with moka-brewed coffee to finish. Check the music programme if you have a particular evening in mind. Online table requests need to be made at least 24 hours ahead and require the restaurant's confirmation; call for larger groups or more immediate plans. The published evening schedule includes a Tuesday rest day.

Passeggiata Dino Grollero 18, 17021 Alassio

+390182660573

Clapsy Alassio stands between the town's narrow shopping streets and the sea on Passeggiata Dino Grollero. Orange accents brighten the outdoor tables, while handmade Vietri tiles carry that colour into the dining room. This was the first restaurant opened by Claudio and Orietta in the Clapsy family, whose story began in 2004. It is a convivial seaside address for pizza, fish and the group's own take on cheese focaccia. The focaccia is an important part of the restaurant's identity. Two thin layers enclose creamy crescenza cheese, with a classic version as well as combinations involving pesto and pine nuts, smoked speck, aubergine or other additions. Claudio learned the method while working in Recco's bakeries and developed the restaurant's own interpretation from that experience. Pizza lovers can choose between the especially thin, crisp style and a separate Neapolitan selection. The thin Margherita pairs tomato, mozzarella and basil; the vegetarian version adds courgettes, aubergine and rocket. Among the Neapolitan choices, Partenopea uses San Marzano tomato and fior di latte, while Campagnola brings grilled vegetables and burrata. There are also richer combinations with sausage, spicy salami and regional cheeses. Seafood and Ligurian country cooking broaden the offer beyond the oven. The restaurant describes its sourcing around the fish markets of Savona and Imperia, regional olive oil and selected Italian produce. It is a useful option when some of the table want pizza and others prefer a restaurant meal. Contact this Alassio branch directly to arrange your table and confirm service times.

Passeggiata Baracca 25, 17021 Alassio

+390182642557

La Prua has welcomed diners to Alassio's seafront since 1978. On Passeggiata Baracca, the restaurant combines three indoor dining rooms with a veranda overlooking the beach. In summer, tables can extend directly onto the sand; in cooler weather, the sheltered spaces keep the sea close to the meal. It is a setting suited to a leisurely lunch, a dinner for two or a celebration arranged with the restaurant. The kitchen draws on Ligurian and Mediterranean cooking while giving individual dishes a contemporary direction. Raw seafood selections follow the day's availability, with prawns, langoustines, oysters and fish prepared to order. Roast octopus comes with anchovy-flavoured crushed potato, tomato and Taggiasca olive, while a courgette flan with Raschera cheese offers a vegetable-based starter. Pasta and rice choices include traditional trofie, seafood spaghetti to share, and Carnaroli rice with trombetta courgette, langoustine and smoked burrata. The day's Ligurian fish can be grilled, baked in salt or prepared in the local style. Other dishes include sesame-crusted tuna, sea bass with basil and grilled Fassona beef with seasonal vegetables, giving companions different ways to build a meal. The wine selection includes regional bottles as well as wines from elsewhere in Italy. Desserts range from an espresso tiramisù to lemon-and-basil ice cream with Ligurian stroscia and strawberry compote. Reserve ahead if you would like a particular seaside setting, and check which outdoor tables and fish specialities are available for your visit.

Ristorante La Vigna

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Nadin Sh / Pexels

Via Lepanto 1, Frazione Solva, 17021 Alassio

+390182644744

Ristorante La Vigna sits above Alassio in the hamlet of Solva, where its terrace looks across the gulf. A grape pergola, flowers and softly coloured interiors give the osteria a different atmosphere from the busy seafront below. The setting encourages a slower meal, with the view forming part of the occasion and the kitchen keeping the ingredients of the surrounding region in focus. Its cooking brings together the western Ligurian coast, Provence and the Langhe. Fresh pasta, bread and pastries are made in house, and the menu changes with the seasons. Seafood has a central role: raw violet prawns and langoustines, local fish, tuna, octopus and gently cooked salt cod appear among the restaurant's specialities. An oyster selection offers another way to begin a meal by the coast. The pasta repertoire is particularly distinctive. Agnolotti al plin are filled with roast rabbit, while seafood tortelli, tagliolini with prawns or lobster, and Carnaroli seafood rice show the maritime side of the kitchen. Meat eaters can look for Ligurian-style rabbit, Fassona beef and slow-cooked veal. Seasonal vegetables accompany the main dishes rather than being treated as an afterthought. The restaurant also gives careful attention to its wine selection, so the meal can be planned around a bottle as well as a dish. Book a table directly and use the Solva address when arranging your journey: this is a hillside destination above the town. Ask about the current seasonal menu and terrace availability when making your reservation.

Avinguda de s'Albufera 16, Ses Fotges, 07440 Playa de Muro

+34971890483

Restaurante Boy has been part of Playa de Muro since 1978, with the Torrens Bauza family behind a restaurant centred on wood-fired grilling. On Avinguda de s'Albufera in Ses Fotges, it offers a broad menu that works for a group whose tastes range from a substantial steak to pizza or a lighter fish dish. The meat selection is the main focus. The restaurant lists Spanish beef alongside Irish and Australian Angus and beef from Nebraska, with large cuts such as T-bone and tomahawk intended for sharing. Dry ageing is part of the house's approach to selected beef. Staff can explain the available cuts and portions, which is useful when choosing between an individual steak and a shared platter. There are several ways to build a different meal. Starters include mussels, battered squid, Padrón peppers, Manchego and Iberian ham. Pizza choices run from a simple cheese-and-tomato Margarita to vegetable and seafood versions; pasta, grilled vegetables and pamboli add more options. The children's menu and play area are practical details for families, while the larger menu means everyone can order at their own pace and according to appetite. Boy also has a wine selection and an adjoining cocktail-bar offering for continuing the evening. Reserve directly, especially if you want a larger table or a particular sharing cut. Opening days and Sunday service should be checked with the restaurant, as seasonal schedules can differ. This is an established local option for a meal built around the grill without requiring every diner to choose meat.

Carretera Artà–Port d'Alcúdia, km 26.3, 07440 Playa de Muro

+34971893045

Figueret Restaurant brings traditional Mallorcan cooking and a broad Mediterranean menu to the road through Playa de Muro. The name comes from the family's longstanding Mallorcan nickname. Jaume and Maria began the current Figueret story with a small café in Port d'Alcúdia in 2010, later developing the restaurant's focus on lunch and dinner. The menu gives a clear place to island recipes. Cod à la mallorquina is baked with vegetables, potatoes, tomato, garlic, pine nuts and raisins; another cod preparation combines allioli, sobrasada and honey. Vegetable frit mallorquí, stuffed aubergines and stuffed courgettes offer further ways to explore the kitchen's regional side. Grilled fish and meat sit alongside these dishes rather than replacing them. Seafood is another strong thread, from garlic prawns and clams in Albariño to the house mixed seafood platter. Rice dishes and fideuà are generally offered for at least two diners, with seafood, black-ink, mixed-meat-and-seafood and vegetable versions. The ciega preparations have bones and shells removed, a useful distinction to understand when choosing a shared pan. Desserts include Mallorcan gató with almond ice cream and ensaïmada pudding. Parking is available in front of the restaurant, and tables can be reserved through its own website. Discuss your choice of rice, group size and dietary needs when arranging the visit. The combination of recognisable island dishes, seafood and a substantial vegetarian selection makes Figueret useful for a mixed group wanting a full meal in the Playa de Muro area.

Casetes des Capellans 174, 07420 Playa de Muro

+34682151259

Can Gavella is a beachfront restaurant in Ses Casetes des Capellans, at the Can Picafort end of Playa de Muro. Tables on the sand and a menu built around rice dishes make it a natural place to plan a long lunch by the bay. The restaurant traces its paella to a family recipe passed between generations. The rice specialities are prepared to order for at least two diners. Choose between mixed paella, seafood paella and seafood fideuà; the mixed version brings together meat and shellfish, while the seafood preparations include cuttlefish, prawns and mussels. Mention your preferred dish when booking so the kitchen can advise on ordering and timing. There is plenty to consider before the rice arrives. The published menu includes grilled scallops, steamed mussels, clams with white wine, fried baby squid and grilled octopus. Salads, grilled fish, pumpkin ravioli and burgers broaden the choice for a table with different tastes. For a local finish, look for gató with almond ice cream or the Cardinal de Lloseta among the desserts available that day. The kitchen schedule changes with the season: spring and autumn focus on lunch, while the main summer months also list an evening service. Book ahead and check the times for your date. Drivers should follow the signed parking arrangements around Ses Casetes des Capellans, where access restrictions apply during part of summer. The restaurant also welcomes dogs on its terrace and asks larger groups to arrange their visit directly.

Ses Casetes des Capellans, 07440 Playa de Muro

Ponderosa Beach serves contemporary Mediterranean food directly on the sand at Ses Casetes des Capellans, on Playa de Muro. The business dates to 1967 and remains connected to the family who established it. Its appeal is the combination of a relaxed beach setting with a menu that gives substantial attention to rice, seafood and Mallorcan ingredients. The current rice selection uses bomba rice from Molino Roca and is designed for at least two people. Options include cuttlefish with red prawns, black rice with squid, a peeled-shellfish señorito rice and a preparation with Mallorcan vegetables. The Barroco rice combines scallops, red prawns, langoustines, cuttlefish and mussels. Ask about the dishes available on your chosen date before deciding how to share the meal. The starters show a broader range of influences. Mediterranean squid comes with orange-and-almond allioli; mussels are cooked with ginger, coconut milk and yellow chilli; croaker ceviche uses avocado and coconut. Grilled bream and John Dory provide alternatives to rice, while the menu also includes beef, slow-cooked pork and vegetable dishes. Allergen symbols and some adapted options are published, though specific requirements should still be discussed with the team. Reserve through the restaurant's own booking system and confirm the season's service dates. Ponderosa is particularly suited to making lunch part of a beach day, with time to enjoy the shoreline before or after eating. The wine and cocktail lists give further choices for those settling in for a leisurely meal by the water.

Carrer Costa i Llobera 26, baixos, 07458 Can Picafort

+34971515223

Petit Figueret is the younger generation of the Figueret family's restaurant story, with a dedicated burger restaurant on Carrer Costa i Llobera in Can Picafort. The family describes an informal approach built around carefully selected meat, patties formed in the restaurant and artisan bread. It offers a different sort of evening meal from the seafood and rice restaurants along this stretch of coast. The burgers have individual combinations that make the menu worth reading closely. Vola brings together brie, cheddar, caramelised onion, bacon and barbecue sauce; Camins uses goat's cheese, rocket and bacon jam. Ai, Yoko adds mushrooms, raclette and truffle mayonnaise, while Foc al cos is the option to consider if you like a chilli-based sauce. Check the current selection when ordering, as featured burgers can change. Chicken and plant-based choices broaden the range. The published menu includes a crispy chicken burger and an Oxigen burger made with a plant-based patty, vegan cheese and sauce. Sides include ordinary or sweet-potato fries, nachos and chicken wings, and there are smaller children's meals. Cheesecakes and a dark-chocolate brownie provide a substantial finish if you still have room. Reserve the Can Picafort location through its official booking page, which currently offers dinner service. The restaurant says its limited space prevents group reservations, so respect the booking limits rather than arriving with an unannounced large party. Takeaway ordering is also available through the website. This is a convenient choice for a casual burger evening while staying around Can Picafort and Playa de Muro.

Balcón de María sits on the Avinguda del Rei Jaume I in Santa Ponsa and sells itself as one place with every experience in it. That is a fair description of the range: pinchos and tapas, what it calls crispy pizza, and a cocktail bar, under one roof. The distinction between pinchos and tapas is worth knowing before you order. A pincho is a single mouthful on a piece of bread, held together with a stick and eaten standing, counted at the end by the sticks left on the plate; a tapa is a small dish. Both are Spanish, and few places on a Mallorcan resort strip bother to serve the first properly. The house keeps separate cards for breakfast, for children, for desserts and for cocktails, and delivers through Glovo, Just Eat, Uber Eats and On The Road — four services, which in a resort town means it is used by people staying nearby as much as by people walking past. It opens every day at half past twelve and runs to eleven at night, to midnight on Friday and Saturday. It is part of the same Mallorcan group as Mercader del Mar, a few doors along the same avenue, so the two are an easy pair to alternate between over a week without eating the same thing twice. Santa Ponsa is about twenty minutes west of Palma, and this avenue is where most of its kitchens are — a walk of a few minutes from the beach and from most of the apartments. You will find Balcón de María at Avinguda del Rei Jaume I 97, 07180 Santa Ponsa.

Paco's Restaurant stands on the Carrer de Ramon de Montcada in Costa de la Calma, on the western edge of Santa Ponsa. It is one of the best-reviewed places in this part of the coast, and it sits on the same short street as Las Olas — a residential road a few minutes back from the water rather than a stretch of the resort avenue. The restaurant had a website and the domain no longer resolves, so nothing is written here about the kitchen: we can point at no source for it, and guessing would be worse than saying nothing. The telephone number works and is the way to ask what is on and to book a table. The opening hours are the same every day of the week, half past twelve to half past ten at night, with no closing day and no afternoon break — which in a resort where a good part of the strip shuts between three and seven is the practical thing to know. Costa de la Calma runs west from Santa Ponsa towards Peguera. It is the quieter side: houses and apartments rather than hotels, and a walk of a few minutes to either the beach or the main avenue. You will find Paco's at Carrer de Ramon de Montcada 13, 07183 Costa de la Calma.

Las Olas is a fish restaurant on the Carrer de Ramon de Montcada, on the Costa de la Calma side of Santa Ponsa. Its own line for what it does is four words long and says everything: from the sea to the plate. The house publishes its menu as a document in four languages — Spanish, English, German and French — which is unusual and useful. It means you can read what is being served before you sit down rather than working it out from a board, and seven pages of it suggests a kitchen with more than a resort card. One thing to plan around: it is closed on Mondays. The rest of the week it opens at half past twelve and runs through to midnight without a break, which covers a late lunch, an early dinner and a late one at the same address. Tables are booked through the restaurant's own link page. Costa de la Calma adjoins Santa Ponsa to the west and is the quieter half of the same stretch of coast — residential rather than resort, a few minutes' walk from the beach and away from the main avenue. The name means calm coast and it is not marketing: the bay here is sheltered from the tramuntana, the north wind that closes the beaches on the other side of the island, which is why this corner of Mallorca fills up first in spring and empties last in autumn. You will find Las Olas at Carrer de Ramon de Montcada 18, 07180 Costa de la Calma.

Mestiza sits on the Avinguda del Rei Jaume I in Santa Ponsa and does three things: burgers, prime steak, and thin, crisp American-style pizza. The full name says so outright, which saves anyone the trouble of guessing — this is not a Mallorcan kitchen and does not pretend to be one. The word mestiza means mixed, and the menu lives up to it. Alongside the main card there are separate lists for breakfast and for desserts, and the kitchen opens at eleven in the morning and runs to midnight, every day of the week without a closing day. Food is delivered through Just Eat. The site is kept in five languages — Spanish, English, German, French and Italian — which is an honest picture of who eats on this avenue in August. It belongs to the same Mallorcan group as Mercader del Mar and Balcón de María, a few doors along the same street, so the service and the standard are shared between them even though the kitchens are not. Santa Ponsa is about twenty minutes west of Palma by car, and the avenue runs from the bypass down towards the beach with most of the town's restaurants on it. Number 92 is towards the lower end, so this is a short walk from the sand rather than from the main road — worth knowing if you are coming back off the beach hungry. You will find Mestiza at Avinguda del Rei Jaume I 92, 07180 Santa Ponsa.

Mercader del Mar stands on the Avinguda del Rei Jaume I, the avenue that runs the length of Santa Ponsa on the south-west coast of Mallorca. The kitchen is Mediterranean and its single named speciality is paella — which on this island means the rice is the dish rather than a side, and it is worth ordering as one. Two practical points the house makes about itself. It is open all year, which is not ordinary in a resort town where a good part of the strip shuts from November to March. And the kitchen runs straight through, midday to midnight, every day of the week — so there is no dead afternoon between services, the thing that catches out anyone eating on a northern European clock. There are separate cards for children and for desserts, and the site is kept in Spanish, English and German, which tells you plainly who eats here. The restaurant belongs to a Mallorcan group that also runs Puerto Portals and several houses along this avenue, so the standard is consistent between them and the menus have a family resemblance. Santa Ponsa lies about twenty minutes west of Palma, on a sheltered bay with a sand beach, and the avenue is its main street. Adelfas is a restaurant in a villa on a quiet street of Santa Ponsa, run by Jens and Nicole Bräuning, with a large sun terrace under the trees and a pavilion for bigger tables. Everything is made in the house - the couple say they cook and serve with heart rather than follow a production line - and the menu leans to fresh, gourmet plates: a butterfish ceviche with mango foam is the dish people mention, alongside fish, lamb and homemade desserts. It opens in the evening only, from six, and closes on Tuesday and Wednesday; the terrace makes it a good choice for a long summer dinner, and there is parking directly outside. Open all year, which in Santa Ponsa is not a given.

Route de l’Allex 2, 1880 Bex

La Colonne is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria on Route de l'Allex in Bex. Mia and Orhan reopened this established family address in August 2025, bringing a new team to a house whose restaurant history stretches back to 1972. The dining room, bright veranda and terrace offer different settings for the same homemade Italian cooking. Pizza is a central part of the menu. The dough is made in-house and given a slow rise, with fresh toppings and careful baking. Beyond pizza, the kitchen prepares homemade tagliatelle, potato gnocchi and ravioli filled with ricotta. These dishes make it possible to choose a full pasta meal even when other people at the table have come specifically for pizza. The menu follows the seasons and market produce. One of the restaurant's own examples is wild-boar meatballs in tomato sauce during the game season. A changing lunchtime menu provides another option alongside the regular selection. Ask what is available that day rather than expecting seasonal dishes to remain on the card throughout the year. The terrace has a wood-burning stove, while the bar provides a place for an Italian coffee or an aperitif. La Colonne can also be booked for private occasions. It opens later on Mondays than on the rest of its working week and closes on Sundays. Telephone for a table, current food-service times or arrangements for a family celebration, and mention any dietary requirements when booking.

Ruelle du Marché 10, 1880 Bex

Grotto 04 is a family restaurant, pizzeria and wine bar in the centre of Bex. Its menu combines Mediterranean and Italian cooking with several Kosovar specialities. The restaurant has operated since 2001 and gives local ingredients a specific role: pizza flour is produced with a Vaud farmer, vegetables come from the market and the meat is Swiss. Pizzas range from a simple Margherita to combinations using vegetables, seafood or Kosovar beef sausage. The menu also offers linguine, risotto, hand-cut beef tartare, perch fillets and burgers. Kosovar-style chicken and a wine-based meat fondue are dishes to arrange in advance for at least two people. Risotto is cooked to order, so allow a little extra time if that is your choice. There are separate options for younger guests, including pasta, small pizzas and meat dishes. Gluten-free pasta can be requested, but allergies should still be discussed with the staff before ordering. The venue is on one level and has an outdoor terrace for summer meals, making it practical for different kinds of groups. The wine bar is another distinctive part of Grotto 04, with more than 300 references and a strong emphasis on Swiss wines. Bottles can be enjoyed here or bought to take away. A small private dining room overlooking the kitchen is available by arrangement. The restaurant closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; reserve directly for a special dish, a group meal or a busy evening.

The Hôtel de Ville on Rue Centrale is a restaurant in the centre of Bex; despite its name, it does not offer hotel rooms. Its cooking draws on Italian and Swiss traditions, with a shaded terrace behind the dining room and additional rooms for private occasions. It works for a meal in town when your group wants a wider choice than pizza alone. The Italian side of the menu includes homemade lasagne, aubergine parmigiana, spaghetti with clams and morel risotto. Swiss dishes include Bernese rösti with bacon and egg, Tomme Vaudoise with seasonal salad and cheese fondue from Moléson. This combination allows diners to choose between pasta and local cheese-based dishes at the same table. Fish and meat broaden the selection further, from perch fillets and sea bream to beef tartare, duck breast and a house burger. A wine-based meat fondue is available by reservation for at least two people. For dessert, the restaurant lists Italian favourites such as tiramisu and Sicilian ricotta cannoli, alongside crème brûlée and chocolate cake. The kitchen prepares dishes to order and offers smaller discovery portions for children under twelve. A changing dish of the day is served from Tuesday to Friday. Ordinary service runs Tuesday to Saturday, with separate daytime and evening kitchen sessions. Sunday and Monday openings can be arranged for groups of at least fifteen. Contact the team before travelling for an off-day gathering or a dish that needs advance preparation.

Auberge de Pont-de-Nant sits at 1,253 metres at the entrance to the Vallon de Nant, beneath the Grand Muveran. The mountain setting is central to a visit: the inn is a stop on the Tour des Muverans, and the La Thomasia alpine botanical garden is around 100 metres away. Jordi, Maddy-Ann and Marco lead the current team. The kitchen follows the seasons. Its autumn menu includes venison with homemade spätzli, wild-boar parmentier and trout from Vionnaz that is marinated and smoked in-house. A mushroom small-spelt risotto provides a vegetable-focused alternative, while cheese fondue comes with several possible variations. Children have a smaller chalet macaroni dish. These are seasonal examples, so consult the current card before a special journey. Desserts continue the regional and autumn themes, with roasted figs, a raisinée cheesecake and a chocolate dessert with chestnut mousse. A shared hunter's caquelon is offered for at least two people. Reserve a table in advance, since the inn specifically warns that availability is limited during its autumn service. Access needs planning in winter. In summer the road reaches the inn and public parking is available. From roughly November to April, the last two kilometres close to vehicles; guests continue from Les Plans-sur-Bex on foot or with appropriate winter equipment, depending on conditions. Check the current route and opening dates directly, including the scheduled November closure. This is a destination meal in the mountains rather than a town-centre restaurant.

Route de Sodoleuvre 6, 1882 Gryon

L'Étable is a mountain restaurant in the Les Chaux area above Gryon, near Taveyannes. Its name reflects the building's original use: a former stable has been converted into a dining room for regional Swiss cooking. A broad wooden terrace looks across the surrounding mountain pastures, providing an outdoor option during suitable weather. The food follows that alpine setting. Specialities highlighted by the restaurant and regional tourism office include mushroom cassolette with rösti, roast pork knuckle with honey and half-and-half cheese fondue. Vegetable dishes and a children's selection broaden the choice. The menu changes with the season, so check which preparations are being served when you reserve. Animals are a distinctive part of a visit here. The small educational farm is reserved for restaurant guests and includes donkeys, goats, rabbits and chickens. The tourism office also describes animals in their own space behind glass beside the restaurant. For families, this gives the meal an additional point of interest without turning it into a separate outing to a distant attraction. In summer, the restaurant can be reached via the Route des Chaux from Gryon or as part of a walk from Taveyannes. It also welcomes winter visitors, with a separate terrace hut offering lighter refreshments. Opening times depend on the season and conditions; check access and food-service hours before setting out. Make a direct reservation for your table, particularly if you are organising a group or fitting lunch around a mountain walk.

Ristorante Mont Néry is the restaurant of the Villa Fridau residence in Gressoney-Saint-Jean. Its name goes back to the Locanda Mont Néry, which the family's great-uncles Erwin and Pina Monterin ran in the village in the 1950s. Today Marysa looks after the dining room and chef Boris Melon runs the kitchen. The cooking is Aosta Valley and Piedmontese, built on produce from close by: the valley's cured meats and cheeses, fresh pasta made in the house with a choice of sauces, and game served with polenta. The ice cream is homemade, in flavors that follow the season, and Boris and Marysa are glad to suggest a bottle from the wine list.

The kitchen reworks Aosta Valley classics with produce from nearby: fassone beef fillet with lime and pink pepper, beef cooked slowly and served with tuna sauce, fresh tagliolini with artichokes and guanciale, or cheek braised in Torrette red wine and served with polenta and glazed shallots. The menu changes with the seasons, and the bar pours cocktails and wines from many regions. Tables can be booked online, by phone or on WhatsApp.

The wine list stays close to home too, with labels from the Aosta Valley and Piedmont. In winter the chalet sits in deep snow and is reached on skis during the day. For dinner a snowcat picks guests up and brings them back down again, which turns an evening meal into a small expedition. In summer it is a walk across green pastures.

Moosalpstrasse 357, 3923 Törbel

+41279521495

Restaurant Moosalp stands above Törbel at an elevation of 2,048 meters, combining a mountain destination with a family story that began in 1964. Amadé Kalbermatten and his son Jeremy carry the restaurant into its third generation, while Priscilla shapes its visual identity, including the menus and logo. The building's distinctive sloping roof reflects the shape of an alpine hut opposite, a feature required when the original building received permission. The cooking brings local products into dishes that range from traditional cheese preparations to more contemporary combinations. Raclette is scraped from cheese heated over a wood fire and served with potatoes, small onions and pickles. Another version pairs Valais dried apricots with Johannisberg wine, white balsamic vinegar and curry. The Moosalp rösti combines bacon, figs and melted cheese. Vegetarian choices include cauliflower with tahini, pomegranate, almonds and dukkah, a sweet potato ragout with naan, and a chickpea and beet burger. The menu also includes perch fillets from Raron, veal cordon bleu with Valais ham and cheese, and lamb entrecôte with an herb crust. Balbina's minestrone keeps an earlier generation present in the kitchen. The restaurant has expanded over time to include a conservatory, the Mischabel Lounge, a terrace and the Cantina Carmen wine cellar for tastings and private occasions. Table reservations are available. Access by car follows the road through Törbel; winter visitors coming from Bürchen can use the Alpenschnaager transport.

The restaurant at Bürchnerhof welcomes both hotel residents and people coming just for a meal in Bürchen. Its dining room looks toward the Bietschhorn, while a sunny terrace offers another way to enjoy the mountain setting. The hotel stands in the Moosalp ski and walking area at around fifteen hundred meters above sea level, with ski slopes beside the property and walking routes forming part of its surroundings. Sophia and Gregor lead the house, bringing together their experience and ideas with a team that includes a dedicated kitchen staff. Their approach puts personal hospitality and support for local farmers and suppliers at the center of the experience. The restaurant's regional connections become especially tangible through its producers. Bread comes from the Zenhäusern bakery, which supplies freshly made loaves for the table. In Bürchen, Sandra and Matthias Gattlen raise Galloway cattle at the organic Trieguhof. The house also introduces Anita Heynen, whose work involves medicinal herbs, traditional recipes and herbal preparations, and Gisela and Thomas, who brew local beer. These connections give the restaurant a relationship with the village beyond its mountain outlook. Alongside the restaurant, the building has a bar where residents and local people meet. With twenty hotel rooms, the dining spaces belong to a small mountain hotel while remaining accessible to outside visitors. It is a setting for travelers who want their meal to connect with the place they are visiting, through both the landscape and the people supplying the house.

Ronalp brings together a restaurant, a smaller Stübli and a terrace on Ronalpstrasse in Bürchen. The kitchen combines dishes from the Josper charcoal grill with Valais specialties and familiar Swiss cooking, accompanied by wines from the canton. Fresh, minimally processed ingredients are central to the approach, which extends from individual dishes to celebration menus and buffets. The main restaurant accommodates up to seventy guests. For a more intimate setting, the Stübli offers an alternative room devoted to specialties from Valais and elsewhere in Switzerland. Outside, the terrace overlooks the children's ski area in winter and the minigolf activity in summer. Its seventy seats give the outdoor space a substantial role in the house. Breakfast is another part of the offer. The buffet includes breads, rolls and croissants, assorted cheeses, meats and smoked salmon, homemade bircher muesli, yogurt and dried fruit. Seasonal fruit salad and eggs prepared to order complete the selection, alongside coffee, tea and milk drinks. Côté Jardin occupies a leafy corner of Bastia’s Jardin de l’Annonciade, where a wooden terrace and parasols give the restaurant something of a beach pavilion’s atmosphere. Trees and lawns surround the tables, while a children’s play area stands beside the terrace. The setting makes the garden part of the meal: somewhere to sit together outdoors, with space around the table and greenery beyond it. The restaurant was conceived by Michel and his nephew Jean-Louis as a gathering place for families and people working in the city. The kitchen combines familiar restaurant dishes with ideas from contemporary street food, using fresh, seasonal ingredients for homemade preparations. Its published menu ranges from a chicken bowl with breaded goat cheese, sweet potato and avocado to pulled beef in pita bread and pork ribs with a house marinade. A classic burger comes with cheddar, tomato and onions. Other choices include pumpkin cream gnocchi with grilled pancetta, crunchy vegetables with Chinese noodles, prawn skewers and pasta combining octopus with sausage. These combinations give the menu variety without tying the restaurant to a single national cuisine. Desserts are another substantial part of the offer. Paris-Brest and a coconut, strawberry and lemon entremet appear alongside a selection of ice creams and fruit sorbets, including Corsican clementine. The restaurant also arranges private celebrations such as birthdays, baptisms and communions, including a personalized cake. Tables can be requested through its reservation form or by telephone.

10 Rue Pino, 20200 Bastia

Micca Nome is a Corsican restaurant on Rue Pino in Bastia's market quarter. Its menu keeps the island's language alongside its food, with dishes listed under Corsican headings for starters, main courses and desserts. Fresh cheese fritters and anchovies prepared in the Bastia style introduce a selection that moves between cured meats, pasta and seafood. The charcuterie comes from Joseph Borragini and sons in Murato, with coppa, lonzu and sausage named on the menu. A larger platter adds terrine and cheese fritters. Main courses include pasta with bottarga, veal with olives and penne, wild boar in sauce with mafaldine, and cannelloni filled with brocciu. Seafood has several forms here: sardines stuffed with brocciu, squid in sauce with rice, fish soup, and a fisherman's plate combining soup with fish fillets, cuttlefish, prawns and mussels. Lamb shank with figs and honey offers another route through the menu. Children have their own small selection, including buttered pasta or a fried egg with fries. Desserts continue the Corsican thread with fiadone, pastizzu and chestnut crème brûlée, alongside hazelnut tiramisu and a cheese plate. The wine list ranges across the island, including Saparale, Domaine de la Punta, Gioielli, Clos Capitoro and producers from the Calvi area. Tables can be booked directly by telephone or email. The address, food and wine together make this a focused introduction to Corsican cooking within the old market neighbourhood.

A panoramic terrace brings the harbor into view, while the interior combines contemporary furnishings with traditional touches. In cooler weather, the lounge with its fireplace offers another setting for a meal. The kitchen centers on homemade cooking, seasonal produce and ingredients selected from Corsican suppliers, with Mediterranean influences running through the dishes. The menu gives those local connections tangible form. Crostini use organic bread from A Pagnotta in Bastia, paired with dried tomato, basil and burratina. Fresh cheese fritters feature cheese from A Tinella in Lucciana, while a charcuterie selection brings together sausage, coppa, lonzu and ham. Seafood choices include sea bass with grilled vegetables and octopus paired with Iberian chorizo and chickpea piperade. Lamb is accompanied by pea hummus and mint, and the seasonal risotto can be prepared in a vegetarian version. Desserts range from a chocolate creation to an apricot tartlet with rosemary, black sesame and meringue. Another option combines vanilla ice cream, canistrelli, almonds, coffee and whipped cream. Corsican cheeses with fig jam provide a savory finish. Le Pirate stands at the harbour in Erbalunga, among waterfront houses and the rocky shoreline beneath the village's Genoese tower. Its cooking brings together seafood and meat through an à la carte selection and several tasting menus. The setting places the restaurant within the small fishing village itself, with the marine landscape forming part of the experience. On the published menu, langoustine tortellini are paired with hazelnut and shellfish, while John Dory comes with olive oil and cauliflower. Monkfish combines smoked flavours with seasonal vegetables and a sauce involving both shellfish and meat. The meat dishes have equally specific accompaniments: veal with carrots and thyme, pigeon with beetroot and raspberry, and beef fillet with crisp Anna potatoes and nori. These combinations give a useful sense of a kitchen that works across the island's land and sea. The tasting formats include four, six and eight courses, with seasonal inspiration and a progression through savoury dishes to pastry. Cheese can form another part of the meal, with Corsican selections appearing alongside those from mainland France. Desserts explore combinations such as smoked chocolate, lemon, miso caramel and pecans, or pistachio with financier, strawberry and sorbet. Wine pairings offer a choice between Corsican and mainland selections. A children's menu is also available. Tables can be reserved directly by telephone, and the contact form includes a space for allergies. The result is a harbour restaurant with a carefully structured menu and a distinctly ingredient-led approach.

Les Américains

Erbalunga, 20222 Brando

+33495301030

Les Américains is the restaurant of the Castel Brando, a hotel set in a nineteenth century mansion in Erbalunga, the old fishing village of Brando on the east coast of Cap Corse, about fifteen minutes north of Bastia. The name comes from the house itself. It is one of the 'maisons d'américains' of the cape: built in 1853 by a Corsican doctor who had served in the Napoleonic armies, it was later taken over and embellished by a man from the village who came home from Saint Domingue after decades abroad and planted the exotic park of palms, cedars and other trees that still surrounds it. Joëlle and Jean Paul Pieri bought the ruined family house in 1990 and restored it. The kitchen describes its food as simple and full of flavour, built on a careful choice of the best producers on Cap Corse and inspired by the island's own cooking, between the mountains and the Mediterranean. The idea at the table is to eat together and share local classics at the foot of the old house, with wines from the region alongside. Dinner is served every evening except Wednesday, and in season there is also a lunchtime table d'hôte that does not need a booking; for dinner, online reservation is available. The restaurant is open to people who are not staying at the hotel. Around it are a shaded inner patio with a centuries old olive tree, a vaulted library lounge, two pools and private parking, and the hotel welcomes pets. From a holiday home in Sisco it is a short drive south for an unhurried evening meal.
